A few years back, on the Friday before that year's Superman Celebration began, my family and I were in the Superman Museum in Metropolis, Illinois. I saw Noel (Lois Lane) Neil walk in and I instantly recognized her. I discreetly pointed her out to my wife, but said I wasn't going to bother her, since she was "off duty" so to speak. My son was 3 or so at the time. She came up to him and said "Hello little one" and struck up a nice conversation with him. I just stood back and grinned. I never did go all fanboy on her, and I remember the experience more fondly because of it. A really nice, classy lady.

Shaun Cassidy walked into Rusty's Bar & Grill in Santa Monica to see The Jenerators (Billy Mumy's band) perform. He's friends w/ all the guys and was nice enough to chat a bit and pose for some pics. (this happened twice) The same night Johnny Whitaker was there as well, and talked a bit and offered to take a pic w/ me. Also at Rusty's to see The Jenerators I've see Marcia Wallace, Tony Dow, Chloris Leachman, Valerie Harper and a couple other celebs I can't think of at the moment.

Darius Rucker used to come into my shop when he was staying in Baltimore. Really nice, laid back guy.

When I was working in NYC I bumped into people now and then at the places I worked at.

I rang up Kevin Bacon & Kyra Sedgewick at a bookstore I worked at. Kevin Bacon picked out a scratched up copy of a NYC guidebook and I said to him, "We have better copies on the shelf. Wouldn't you want a brand new copy?" Mr. Bacon replied, "No. I, uh, like the scratched up copy."

I saw Harrison Ford once uptown. He had grown a mustache as a disguise. I still recognized him window shopping and nodded my head at him from inside the shop. Realizing I recognized him he walked away.

I freaked out Armand Assante` once. I was working uptown one week and the next week I had changed jobs and was working midtown. He visited both places in sequence and the second time he saw me at the other store he did a double-take.

I've spoken to Bob Balaban, Ed Harris, Regis Philbin, Alec Baldwin when he was still married to Kim Basinger, David Hedison of VTTBOTS, Whitley Streiber-author, Mark McKinney of Kids in the Hall. So angry I missed meeting Roddy McDowell before he passed away. My co-worker met him.

On a more serious note, back in 2004 I went to a record show here on Long Island. I saw a stack of "Lemora: A Child's Tale of the Supernatural" DVDs on a table and asked the seller why he had them. He told me his friend (who directed the film) was there with him. So I met him and got a copy signed. I know he's not really a celebrity, but it was shortly after that disc came out and I already had a copy and I loved that film.

Sonny Bono and The Secretary of Defense (William Cohen) 1997

I was a soldier in the United States Army when I was deployed to Bosnia from January 1997 - January 1998. My MOS (job description) was a 19K (M1-A1 Tanker). We did not drive the tanks much while we were there so I was assigned as a Humvee driver for a Lieutenant. The Lieutenant was always in the lead vehicle in a convoy and I drove almost every day I was there. I got so good at knowing the routes for the entire country that the Lieutenant would loan me out to others that needed a driver. I was informed one day that the Secretary of Defense and a representative from California were coming and that I would drive them wherever they needed to go. I was blown away with that one! Needless to say this was big! The representative from California turned out to be Sonny Bono.

There I was in the Humvee with Sonny Bono and The Secretary of Defense (William Cohen). I did not say a word until the Secretary of Defense said to relax. They asked my if I had kids and where I was from. I wish I had a photo. I did get a coin from the Secretary of Defense and anyone that has ever been in the military knows that we carry our coins in our pocket and when questioned you would play the game of who has a coin from the highest ranking. No one could beat the Secretary of Defense coin. Best day of my life...and when I saw they were just regular guys...I knew that day that I could do anything or be anybody I wanted to be. (Sonny Bono was really short in height.) Yeah My Bono was married to Cher and yeah he was a singer at one time...but all I could think of to say to him and break the ice was "I loved Airplane II." They both laughed and Mr. Bono said he was still getting fan mail for that one.

In January of 1998, my unit returned to Germany and I was in the barracks having my first beer in a long, long time with my buddies. I remember it was our first night back and we were going out to a local club called the Rock Fabrik to celebrate. We were showered, putting our clothes on, drinking beer...the TV was on. The news said "Sonny Bono has died in a ski accident."

I June of 2009, and elderly man attempted to shoot William Cohen at a Holocaust Museum that he and his wife were attending. A security guard was killed in the incident.

I still think of that day in the humvee. It lasted only a few hours...but for me it will last a lifetime.

If you are reading this...may you live a long and happy life...live each day as if it is your last.

When I lived in Sweet Water (split into two words due to restrictions on a certain word), Texas, I worked at Skinny's (basically like 7-11). One of my regular customers was in the store, and when he reached into his pocket for some change, a few guitar picks fell out onto the counter. I asked him if he played guitar (dumb question) and he said yes. I asked if he was in a band, and he told me he used to play for a band called "America" and asked if I had heard of them. Of course I had. My sister had several of their albums in the 70's. Turned out that David Dickey, bass player for the band "America", was living in Sweet Water, teaching music. He thought my request for an autograph was funny, but he gave me one anyways. I still have it. He was a cool guy and a repeat customer.

Weird story, I work at a TRU and a few months back I see this older couple in the little people isle and ask the woman if she needs any help and she said they were looking for a plane so I showed her the ones we had and she called her husband over to look at them and the guy turn and it was Jerry Springer. he was very nice and I pretended not notice it was him and I helped them decide on a plane fir their little one and off he went. later I head he made sure folks knew it was him because he had an item on hold "under Mr. Springer Mr. Jerry Springer" maybe he was put off that I didn't recognize him. But he was a nice normal dude.

I was vacationing at VA beach in 1985 and so was a rising star BonLovi. I talked to him while body surfing. I talked to him about the concert I had seen him open for in Youngstown OH a few weeks earlier. I was not a fan then (7800 farenheit) and am less of a fan now so the conversation didn't last long

More importantly I was back stage with Robert Plant this month. The pass (and box seat ticket) was a surprise. I hung out with Plant, his bassist, a few crew and security and 7 fans. I talked a little music, some travel, media news and otehr things. He actually offerd to get ME a glass of wine. It was SURREAL.

I have also talked with many senators, Reps and other politicians mainly b/c of my wife's job.

can't think of any others I have met outside the convention/autograph circuit. though at cons Girard Christopher and Frank Gorshin stopped to talk with me away from their tables for actual conversation. I talked with Christopher about triathlons and Gorshin abiut food.

Ahhhhhhh, to bad it wasn't BonJovi. That would've been cool. I wonder what happened to BonLovi?

I met Tim as well. Back when I was in high school I worked at JC Penney, and he was playing at a local nightclub. He came in and bought a pair of bright yellow socks. I didn't get his autograph though, but I still remember he smelled like sour milk. Weird.

Last Christmas eve I went into Wal-Mart and bumped into a guy coming out the same door. After I said excuse me and he said no problem, Merry Christmas, he kept on going and I realized it was Davy Jones from the Monkees.

I met Brett Favre the spring right after he won the Superbowl at my uncle's office in Charleston WV. He was really down to earth and very cool. He just looked like a regular guy he had a ball cap sweatshirt and shorts, I didn't recognize him at first and he had to tell me he was Brett Favre! His agent at the time was from Welch WV and my uncle was starting into sports agency with Randy Moss, who at that time worked there in the summer with me. Brett was really cool to meet and if I had to do it over again I would have gone upstairs and gotten the Sports Illustrated with him on the cover and had him sign it instead of my Army National Guard weapons card LOL.
