    YEH!!!

    England v France on Saturday.

I had to sit and support Germany last night so that we would not have to play them.

You are right about that Australia game where the girl caught the ball and walked off with it. Incredible, i felt sure there must have been an offside or something and the game had stopped. When you first see it you have to watch it again a couple of times before your brain will understand what happened.

Solo is indeed hot...I wouldn't mind doing a solo with Solo...

That was just a head-scratcher. I don't if the U.S. would have won that day, but pulling Solo assured the loss. Though, i have to admit I have a bit of a crush on Solo, so maybe I'm biased

Watched a bit of Uruguay and Peru last night, but I've been watching more of the women.

U-20 World Cup coming up late July.

I have mostly been watching Women's World Cup games not all of them and at least catching the highlights from the U-17 and Copa tournament.

The U.S. has a great team. If they get beat, they get beat but they do have the best team on paper anyway. With that said, I really don't want them playing Brazil in the Quarters so hoping they beat or tie Sweden tomorrow. They should have won 2007 but had a lunk head coach who made really bad decisions. There was the game against North Korea, Abby Wambach is really hurt and rather than subbing her out, they play with 10 players for a long amount of time. North Korea almost beat us. Then the mistake that cost him his job....pulling Hope Solo and starting Brianna Scurry. Hope having a great World Cup and he pulls her because he thinks Brianna Scurry is the more seasoned keeper....huh? Scurry was playing even a couple of years ago in WPS and just did not play well at all. She was great in her prime but Solo is much better than her and I think a better keeper than Scurry even when Scurry was in her prime.

Good thing Brazil has the luxury of doing that. I also noticed the Brazil Women jerseys had 5 stars above their crest but there have only been 5 women World Cups and Brazil has never won (the U.S. has 2). Then I heard them say that they have the stars because of the men's team which has won 5 World Cups and showing unification. The running joke was whether or not the U.S. men's team should wear two stars above the USA crest for two women's World Cup wins.....never gonna happen.

You know, even the men tend to use group as a bit of a warm-up for the knock out rounds. I think most teams played 5, 6 or even 7 matches before the Cup started, whereas the Brazilians have played only one warm-up match. That said, I do agree with your analysis about their chances. I just don't want to get too excited about a potential U.S. championship and then be heartbroken.

Not that mattered in the end, but I do think during Marta's first goal, she got away with a shove.

That was just plain amazing. I can't believe the ref did not see that. Its a good thing the Aussies won the match. Just imagine the stink that would have resulted if they had lost by one goal because of a penalty shot not taken.

BTW, it was Equitorial New Guinea, not Papua.

Did anyone see that crazy play with the Australia-Papua New Guinea game? Ball bounces off the goal post...still in play...defender from Papua New Guinea picks up the ball, holds it for a couple of seconds, drops it and no hand ball called. That could have been really bad for FIFA had Australia lost that game. I understand they make mistakes but that was just crazy.

Looks like England is currently winning 1-nil. Shocked that Brazil demolished a very good Norway team. Marta is an amazing female soccer player. It doesn't seem like the female Brazil team has any kind of game plan and relys exclusively on individual performance. I do think Brazil could go all the way but as long as the U.S. keeps playing like they are playing, they are going to be tough to beat and will take Brazil down simply because they play with organization and have the players that can keep up with a Marta.

England looked a bit off today, but did pull it together. I wouldn't underestimate Japan. They have decent counter attack and might steal a goal.

I don't like getting my hopes too high when it comes to the U.S. They seem to find a way to break my heart every time :( That said, they did play a strong second half in their opening match. They should be able to win tomorrow. That would help in delaying Brazil.
