Just caught part of a show on the National Geographic channel called Flea Man. It features people selling thier stuff at a flea market and there's a guy selling a lot of his vintage toys, especially Batman items. I noticed it comes on again at 11:00 EST.

Seriously.
That Back to the Future car was awesome, and the flea guy was pushing him to give it away for cheap. He does that to all the "contestants". My favorite lie was him telling the guy that New York isn't a toy collecting area.
Can't understand why the toy collector wouldn't try to sell that online first, or take it to a toy store/comic shop for consignment or sale. same with a lot of the stuff. And if it was such a big deal, why not put it all into a storage unit to clrear the baement?
His kids need a dam good paddling too, the little brats. The wife was oddly quiet about it all.Comment

I'm sure what he meant was that particular flea market isn't big for toys, not New York in general.
I liked this show and I liked this episode. Maybe I'm a *******, but I was kinda happy when the showed everyone walking past his stuff or refusing to pay top dollar. I'd rather see that, then phony scenarios of people paying $100 for a loose and incomplete Castle Grayskull or something. I'm tired of misleading information on TV. Like a recent episode of some new storage show, a guy talks about Star Wars figures having "great resell value". Yeah, right...that's why I haven't sold any of the ones I have.Comment

Yeah, I like this better than on the Storage shows where a guy picks up an item, says it's worth a million dollars, and then they write that up on the screen like it's a fact. Then they say what a "huge profit" he made based on absolutely no facts whatsoever, since we never see them sell these things.
What I don't understand though, is why you would take something that actually *has* value to a flea market, or who would actually pay top dollar at a flea market. On the one I saw, a lady was trying to sell two paintings for $400.00 a piece, and another family sold candlesticks for, I think $1,500.00Join us Live at our next live-Auction event! and bid on all your favorite toys! Plus, if it turns out the "antique" you bought from an antique store was actually made last Friday, you have some recourse in that you know where they are and can go back and complain. And, if it gets bad enough, you know where you can send police if you have to.
With a flea market, If I want to dump a few thousand dollars worth of counterfeit junk and then disappear, I can pretty much do it with impunity.
The extra money that you pay at an antique shop is basically insurance against getting ripped off as often.Join us Live at our next live-Auction event! and bid on all your favorite toys! Real Auctions. Real Auctioneers. Real Great deals on the Toys You Want!Comment
