"Polar Express" - Now My Favorite Christmas Movie

I had never seen it until this past weekend when ABC showed it. That is an awesome movie!!! I went out and bought it the next day on DVD and I don't buy DVD's. ABC Family showed it this evening, so I also have it on DVR now as well.

It just has an awesome story and adventure line.

I put this above "Christmas Story" as my favorite Christmas movie.

I want the Lionel "Polar Express" train set now.

we bought the 0 scale for my son..it has 5 cars/engine etc. and then you can buy the add on cars like the hot chocolate car etc..and eventhe figures to go with it. It's incredible. My 3 year old almost watches it daily. I think I have it memorized. IUt's a great family movie for sure.

a really great film about the magic of Christmas from the nostalgic eyes of a child in the 50's. But better than a Christmas story?? I can't agree maybe it's becuase Darrin Mcgavin reminds me so much of my grandfather.

Polar Express is the best christmas movie made since 85 though

The movie is amazing, and you guys should get the book version if you liked the movie. It's really interesting to see where the inspiration for the look of the film came from. The illustrations in the book are all done as oil paintings, and so they tried to give the same feel to the movie using motion capture. Although I have to admit (and I was just talking about this with a friend a couple of days ago and he agrees) that the multiple incarnations of Tom Hanks kind of creep me out, he''s got some weird facial expressions throughout that movie.

I have the book but haven't seen the movie yet - even though it has aired 38 times in the past week. I will reserve it at the libray so I can watch it withthe family w/o commercials before Lily has to go to bed.

BTW the book is great as are most CVA books. If you liked the Jumanji movie you must read the book.

I guess I'm going against the grain here. Although the animation is really cool, I just didn't like the story. To me, it went off on too many tangents. I couldn't even finish watching it, though I did see most of it.

I feel the same way about Quentin T. Movies. Everyone raves about them and I can't sit through them without asking WHY? garbage all.

If you thought it was awesome on ABC, you should've seen it in Imax 3D 3 years ago. It instantly became one of my favorite Christmas movies. Besides the spectacle of it being in "coming at ya" 3D I thought it packed an emotional punch as well.

As much as it is a Christmas movie, it's also a movie about the fear of losing your sense of childlike wonder. Will cynicism and the blows of real life succeed in destroying it or destroying at least a connection with it.

I thought Roger Ebert's review of the movie said a lot of what I thought of it too.

I avoid it on regular TV. This is a movie to watch on DVD or (when I upgrade) High definition. At the very least I don't want to see it cropped.

Also, I have caught a movie here and there on ABC family and I'm not sure if it's just the way the channel is transmitted on my cable system or an effect of their time compression but the audio is shockingly bad and distorted.

I noticed it on Grease when it was shown and another movie I can't recall.

Agreed. I saw it in London in 3D: absolutely fantastic
