Did your town have a unique Christmas decoration ?

    Where I grew up,
There was this mountain--- actually HILL, .... above my town (Hackettstown NJ)
A Doctor lived on top of it....
A long time ago--- way before I was born, he built a gigantic scaffold using old telephone poles.
He hooked up a lighting system on it.....

At the flip of a switch, he was able to make a STAR appear over my town on Christmas, and a cross appear on Easter.

It was pretty neat and something the whole town loved.

To this day, he's still there

Another town near me (Easton Pa) still transforms their center city statue of William Penn into a gigantic candle on Christmas.

It was always a Christmas tradition to go see it

Just wondering if your town did anything unique for the Holidays ?

Here in south Louisiana, we have hundreds of bonfires along the Mississippi river levee to light the way for Santa. It is a BIG to do. I decided to drive around and see some of the bonfires one year. We were in gridlock for three hours. Thousands of people drive around Christmas Eve to see the fires.

These bonfires are not just some logs piled up. People spend weeks making elaborate bonfires that look like houses, cars, etc.

Probably the coolest thing they do around here is the state park has a festival of lights.

You pay about $10 a car and it is a 30-40 minute drive through all kinds of lit displays and some of them give the illusion of movement. There is a low bandwidth radio station that you can tune to and listen to Christmas music as you drive through the park.

The kids really get a kick out of it and so do the adults.
