RIP The Big Man, Clarence Clemons

E Street Bands Clarence Clemons Dies at 69 | Rolling Stone Music

I only go to see the E Street Band once, but I've been a fan for along time and always really appreciated the bond between Bruce Springsteen and Clarence Clemmons. They had a tremendous amount of fun making music for 4 decades. It'll never be the same.

This is one of the greatest intro's Bruce has ever given for "The Big Man" Clarence Clemons. Listen for yourself.

‎"Clarence lived a wonderful life. He carried within him a love of people that made them love him. He created a wondrous and extended family. He loved the saxophone, loved our fans and gave everything he had every night he stepped on stage. His loss is immeasurable and we are honored and thankful to have known him and had the opportunity to stand beside him for nearly forty years. He was my great friend, my partner, and with Clarence at my side, my band and I were able to tell a story far deeper than those simply contained in our music. His life, his memory, and his love will live on in that story and in our band." -- Bruce Springsteen

Since 1985, when I was a young lad of 16, not a week has gone by that I haven't listened to the music of Springsteen and the E Street Band. It is the soundtrack to my soul. So this hurts.

Goodbye, Big Man. You brought a lot of joy to a lot of people for a lot of years. Who can ask for more than that?

There is naught but sorrow in NJ today, the Big Man has left the building. :(

There's already groups of fans hitting the Stone Pony in Asbury Park since the news hit, leaving their thoughts, prayers, etc. behind. It's sad - I was afraid something like this was going to happen when I heard about the stroke. Arguably the most loved guy in the band outside of Bruce, there's no replacing him. I've watched him live and in videos, and his love for the band and the music is infectious - you just get swept up in the great time he's having onstage.

RIP, Clarence, and thanks for all the music and great times you brought to the table!
"It's sad that governments are chiefed by the double tongues. There is iron in your words of death for all Comanche to see, and so there is iron in your words of life. No signed paper can hold the iron. It must come from men. The words of Ten Bears carries the same iron of life and death. It is good that warriors such as we meet in the struggle of life... or death. It shall be life."
