that is exactly what I was thinking of doing. When I started to buy movie posters I thought that I could simply frame them and put them all over the place. I was dead wrong, the size of theater posters is so awkward that I have to make custom frames for each one and not only that, but they are gigantic, I never thought theater posters would take up so much space. So I was thinking of buying more but swapping the posters around when I get sick of looking at them.

It is nice to see so many Mego heads collect movie posters, I am guessing it is because we all love movies so much.

Wal-Mart carries movie poster frames. They have picture collage matting, but in the corner it says movie poster frame. I think Suncoast used to carry them, too. I don't know if they still do.

I will have to look around more then, but I know movie poster frames aren't too cheap because of their sheer size. Does any one know what the average price is for a frame that would accommodate a theater poster?

they can range from 29.99 to 69.99 . Go to Michael's craft store or Hobby lobby and catch them on sale. I wouldn't buy any of those clip on style frames that are real cheap. they run them on sell almost monthly.
If it's an expensive poster , get it framed with at least TWO mats to keep the glass from touching the poster. I use to manage a Michael's and was a certified framer , so I had to learn everything. Been a handy when cutting my own Mats.

I have seen the cheapie clip ons run as little as $10 on sale and they're good for posters that have zero value.

I have been able to pick up decent frames for about $30 on sale. Unfortunately, a lot of the old posters are not the standard size posters that are made today and do not fit in the frames.

It would just be unfeasible to have them custom framed (for me at least). The frame would cost more than the poster is worth.

many times that it is true, it is not worth getting a custom frame for some posters when they can be had for mere dollars, especially new ones which you can some times pick up for free from the video store.
I certainly wouldn't put up a vintage poster with tape though so some times you are really forced into getting a frame, even if you have to spend $40 or so. It is like Mego's I guess, you only get a custom case for expensive one's right?

Wal-Mart's are under $20. And, yes, they will only fit the modern standard 27x40 poster. Most of the older ones tend to run 1 inch too big or too small, usually in the length. The Wal-Mart ones are actually pretty nice. They're not the clip-ons. They won't damage your poster.
