So now that eBay charges a fee on shipping, what is the best way to deal with this? Free shipping?

The best way to deal with it is not to use Ebay. If I've read the new fees correctly, they charge fees on the total sale, not just ending item price. Well, if you offer free shipping, you either have to figure that into your asking price (you still end up paying the same fee) or take a loss on your profits.

Just raise the starting price a little and keep the shipping fee the same.

When ebay raises prices pass it on to the buyer through the starting bid amount
