Stemming from the Jello thread - Anyone love Rice or Bread pudding?

Bread Pudding is served here in Baton Rouge at every restaurant, including the "high class" restaurants.

The other night, I had a large amount of rice left over from dinner. I decided to make rice pudding, something I haven't had or seen in 35 years.

Milk, vanilla, egg, butter, cinnamon, sugar, & cooked rice, brought to a boil and than reduced and chilled (or you could bake it afterwards), is one great dessert!!!

I put a dash of Kaluha for flavor.

I was out of raisins, but I looked for them.

The Kaluha was great, just a slash, the alcohol cooks off.

Love 'em both, though I never tried either until I was at least 30. Around here, you can find a pretty nice rice pudding in most stores' dairy cases. It's surprisingly healthy, which was why I tried it.

I've gotten bread pudding from a few places, but mostly cafeterias. I like it with lemon sauce or cherry, but I can throw a bunch of different things in when I get it at a buffet. I just don't like it dry...and now I have a craving. R'uh-r'oh.

Arroz de leche (rice pudding) is a favorite dessert amongst Mexicans, it's usually served with a sprinkle of canela (cinammon), I love it myself.

I checked out a few recipes. They include stuff like condensed milk & lemon or lime peel (or zest). Is that the main difference?
