You know you are a parent when...

You are rocking out to Alvin and the Chipmunks singing 80's songs with all the windows in the car down on a nice summer day!
    It's all good!

      Lol, I've always done that.
You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...

you create the Ni Hao, Ki Lan, Backyardigans,Dora, Diego, Wow, wow wubzy, fresh Beat Band medley with a little flashback splash of Care Bears countdown and a side of Strawberry Shortcake (wouldn't ya know!)

Wouldn't trade for any other soundtrack ever.

Or you know you're a pre-school teacher when every time you read a Sesame Street or Winnie The Pooh book to your class, you do all the voices.

I would never do that. I would make my child learn everything I learned as a kid. Superfriends, plastic man, Original Scooby Doo, Lone Ranger etc. I would never allow them to watch Barbie...

Is there really any other way to read them?

Haven't done any SS books, but I recorded myself reading the works of Milne in voice for my kiddos.
Didn't record it, but I did read the Lord of the Rings trilogy (in character voices) to my wife while she was pregnant with our daughter. Doubt she remembers that tho. My daughter that is, not my wife. I hope to repeat the task as bedtime reading for both of my kids when they get a little older.

Loved reading the post. My youngest is 10 almost 11 and I have a 14 and 16 year old. No more Winnie the Pooh or any kind of puppey that talks back to you. Actually, they are puppets that talk back...once they reach 1 or 12 the cute kid turns into a monster. My oldest is 16 and am praying for the day that they leave the house...as harsh at it sounds. I love my kids but look at them and wonder if I was like that and the definitive answer is yes. One only understands as your kids grow from young kids to young adults.

There's nothing wrong with Barbie. My 4 year old daughter can name EVERY DC and Marvel superhero by sight and can name an Elvis Tune in one note....I kid you not.

You can expose them to anything retro doesn't mean they'll like it ...in the end the child makes the decision what they will or won't like.......

Another two things I cought myself doing recently as a proud pappa...

                            1. Paying close attention to the Backyardagains and practicing their dance steps. Those little buggers have skills!

                            and

                            2. Had some folks stop in for a visit. Didn't realize there was still a white bow in my hair that Kaitlynn felt really added to my outfit. After having this pointed out I still left it in and you know I really did feel much prettier

                            Baby girls are awesome!
