I only caught bits and parts of it....I hate watching the vote off shows that drag on for a couple of hours when it can be done in 5 minutes. I did catch the Spider-Man thing and as much as everyone says "Enough with Spider-Man already"; I actually want to go see it now. I also thought Scotty would win since he pretty much sounded like a professional singer right out of the gates. I think there is a really good chance he will do well in the music biz. He has a great voice and a likeable personaility. He might be singing outdated music but remember he's only 16 or 17 and will just need to surround himself with good songwriters.

I think country music in general is going to see a big upswing in the short term. Scotty wins American Idol, John Rich wins Celebrity Apprentice....they both come across on tv as genuine, likeable guys and I think this will translate into $$$$. I realize Steve Tyler did nothing more than give his one liners or say "It was Beautiful"....he is cashing in big time from this. His book is a bestseller (it wouldn't have been had it not been for Idol), Aerosmith sales are up big time, and I'm sure his new album will be a big hit. My wife is a good barometer for your average american consumer; she had heard of Aerosmith but not a fan or anything. She was saying how much she really liked Steve Tyler after watching the show and it might have been all show but it worked.

Yeah, American pretty much voted off all the talent this year early on. I boycotted the finale.
I did as well. Casey Abrams, James Durbin, or Haley Reinhart were all really good, and certainly light years beyond either Scotty or Lauren. Though Casey was my favorite, I would have been find with either of those three winning. Sadly, that didn't happen.
It's official: America has no talent at judging talent!

He is talented but doesn't appeal to the mass market. He'll get his album and it will sell well in its niche but I wouldn't expect it to be one of those big release multi-platinum albums (not that many idol winners have had them). You have to find the talent first which they seem to find but they seem to release albums too fast and not let the momentum die. Usually the songs stink and the careers are over before they have begun.

I agree...he sucks...and is really a mediocre singer (he screeches more than he sings)...he just has personality (which I find obnoxious anyway)...look no further than when he sang Queen's Fat Bottomed Girls with Jack Black...the comedic actor actually had the better voice...that tells you how much Casey actually sucks...lol.
Plus he's not a pretty boy...which means teenyboppper girls ain't buying his stuff.
Yes...you can be homely and yet still be successful...but you really have to have a hell of a voice...and he doesn't....I came to that conclusion when he sang Fat Bottomed Girls...it was beyond horrendous.

I agree as well, I think the only reason he lost was cause he got a little cocky in the end, but his voice is awesome for Rock
I think James started too use to many props in his act...you know...smoke and flames...stuff like that...and that might have turned off voters...so yeah...you are right.
I totally disagree re: Casey Abrams. He has mad talent. One song that you didn't like doesn't negate that. But, yes, some goof like Scotty will always appeal more to the mainstream. Which is why I've once and for all decided to avoid the show like the plague next year.
