Saw The Golden Compass Sneak Preview

I thought this was a great kids film. The main character is a kid, lotsa great fantasy characters, some big name co-stars. Gotta warn ya tho; the ending is designed for the sequels to be made. I think after this is released they probably will.

I enjoyed the books and am looking forward to seeing the movie...did they keep all the religious stuff in it?

Nicole Kidman asked for it to be toned down for her to take the part.

It's been slated on the Radio over here this morning. Bored kids, not enough darkness in it, good effects though.

I'm unfamiliar with the books but my wife has read them so she'll be a better judge than me as and when we get to see it.

I also saw it on the 1st and liked it a lot.

I'm confused by a few things though. The movie ends around 90 pages before the novel. On the official website for the movie there are clips and trailers that include scenes not in the film. That happens all the time but the
"missing" stuff doesn't appear to be the sort of things cut for time etc.

Even the current tv commericals have footage not in the sneak preview version. One of the kids books tie ins has photos of things not in the movie.
It would appear that the movie adapted the entire novel but didn't get released that way.

I'm wondering if when the movie is released on the 7th if it will include any of the "missing" footage.

No doubt this may have been left out for the "obviously coming at some point" 4 disc mega collectors, director's cut, gift edition dvd a'la Lord of the rings.
