Garage sale monkey on my back

Wow! The urge to drop all my chores and hit the garage sales this morning is strong. However, I went the last two Fridays. I also have an all-day wedding to photograph tomorrow and I should have my housework done before I leave. I don't know if my will power is strong enough to resist! Maybe if I just stop at the three listed between our house and the township hall; I can quench my urge while at the same time buying a dog license.

Yeah, I have a 9 AM gymnastics class (well my daughter does, not me) but the urge to yard sale is over powering...

      Rallygirl 0, Garage Sales 3.

I am now the proud owner of four glass decorating blocks, bunny and devil ears (of which a person can never have too many) An Algebra for the Clueless book and a 46'' Stuffed Big Bird! Big Bird was free with the purchase of any algebra book! Now I just have to figure out how to make a great Snuffleupagus costume for Halloween.

Ok, on to dishes, laundry and weeding.

I find it interesting that there are any garage/yard sales on any other days but the weekend. No one does that here. And if anyone has those 2 day sales, all the good stuff is gone by Sunday.

This area founded by and is still very heavily Dutch Calvinist and Dutch Christian Reformed; Sunday garage sales just aren't done here. Heck, until the early 1990s, EVERYTHING in town was closed on Sunday. I can still remember the hullabaloo when Burger King first began opening on Sunday.

We used to have weird "blue laws" ... I remember back in the 70's you couldn't by clothing on Sunday

The department stores would literally rope off the clothes sections

It's killing me - it's been raining the last few weekends, and now we're going to have a nice few days and I have to help out at my mother-in-laws. Which isn't so bad, but I'm dying to just check out garage sales!

In Maryland most garage sales start on Friday and end on Saturday. I have always wondered why since most people work on Friday and now I know. Big auctions are also on Fridays.

However, the baby buggy brigade is out in force on Friday mornings.

I just got back. I found 20 Elvis 45's w/ sleeves (no Sun Records) for $1 each, plus a boxed SMDM Repair Station for a dollar
