I was curious about Black Adam

Aside from the live action Filmation series, I don't really know a whole lot about Captain Marvel. Since EMCE came out w/ Black Adam, I was curious as to who he was so I found this on YouTube:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fmm781WHxdk

I think there was an older cartoon, but I didn't know about this one. It was weird to hear the announcer and music from the live action series used for this one (done in 1981, I think). I've decided I like the live action better.

What do you think? Do you like this one or the live action?

Yes, I can see I believe that it's magic

Cartoon is more faithful to the comic book concepts....the live action is really just a guy in a super suit in some "afterschool special" type of situations IMO...

My favourite depiction of Shazam/Captain Marvel thus far is the JLU appearance...

Hmmm...that's kinda hard to watch for me. But then I don't like to see heroes fight each other. Why were they fighting?

Wow, I had no idea Black Adam sounded just like She-Ra's horse Swiftwind.

The Filmation cartoon is the closest depiction of the original Fawcett series we'll likely ever see. Although I'm not as fond of it as I am Tarzan or Flash Gordon, I kind of like it.

My first introduction to the character of Captain Marvel was the live action show, so it's hard for me to get past that four year's bias. I don't watch either series often.

Black Adam semi-reformed and was a hanger-on (but NOT a member) of the Justice Society for awhile, until he went back to eee-vil ways. He married the newer DC incarnation of the Mighty Isis, who died but has gotten better. Currently they are stone statues somewheres after a crappy storyline ended for the Marvel Family.

The Marvel Family as seen on the recent Brave & the Bold episodes was done pretty well:

And here's a couple weird (but cool) wrestling version of Adam & his wife Isis beating up Cap & Wonder Woman:

Cap's Fawcett comic used to be so popular, he was the best-selling hero comic of his time.
Until DC sued on the grounds he was too similar to Superman. Cap was a more humorous strip that didn't take itself too seriously. Fawcett lost and Cap was no more. Kind of.
He was continued in a sort as Marvelman in the UK. Marvel Comics recently bought the rights to this guy which is soooo strange as DC has his original version. Marvel even has the rights to the name Captain Marvel. That's why the TV series and comics are called 'Shazam!'
Marvelman was a hit in another incarnation as Miracleman.
Look them up as the story is very interesting and makes for some good reading.
My favorite Golden Age Captain Marvel storyline was the 'Monster Society of Evil' which has been reworked a couple of times since by DC. I have the UK hardcover. It's awesome!
There are some free downloads on the internet at Golden Age Comics
I highly recommend you checking them out. Great stories, all!
