    Sandy's Mego Meet in July

    Ok guys, here's the thing:

Sandy posted a few months ago about having a CA Mego meet at his studio in Huntington Beach. I realize the "official" Mego meet is just around the corner, but c'mon...50 people were loving the idea and were onboard, and now it's 2 people, (me and Bryan) who are comfirmed to go. I think it's gonna be a blast...movie stuff, swag, food, and a bonfire on the beach. Can it get any better than that?

Seriously folks, don't leave us hanging. WHO'S GOING???

I was on the fence for a while. Finances were making it 50/50 for me to be there. I was still up in the air about it as little as 3 weeks ago. However, the clincher for me is that a friend asked me to be a backup for him that weekend. His wife does wedding photography and is scheduled to shoot one that Saturday. The problem is that she is also pregnant and due two weeks before. If she runs late or has any complications, I promised to do the wedding photography for them. So, I have to pass this time. But I really would love to get out there and meet the West Coast crew sometime.

I WILL say, that anyone who attends will get first crack at a special surprise that Sandy and I are cooking up. So, I will be there in spirit and, one of these days, I will be there in the flesh.

I messaged Sandy of my long overdue medical surgical procedure that both my personal physician, surgeon, and I are talking about...I don't want to get into the details...but it's associated with my prior surgeries. This is serious business.

I'll let Sandy know...a little later down the road.

Aside from that...the plane travel is out...since I'm a big fella...I'd have to pay round trip double air fare...and that would cost a pretty penny...plus that airport security infuriates me...I know it's necessary nowadays...but I still hate it...especially those TSA imbeciles with power trips.

Now...if I get through that surgical procedure in time (or it's held until later in the year)...then driving is the next option. But there's a problem there too...driving eight hours with my bad legs (neuropathy) will be extremely hard and difficult for me...it would've been much, much, much easier...if I had a co-driver...I can only drive about an hour or two at a time...then I'll have to stop and rest...it would take my two days to get to Southern California...lol.

And another thing...I just don't want to just go there for one measly day...after Sandy's meet...then what? I don't want to hop in the car and do the whole driving thing back to the Bay Area all over gain...ARGH...I need to relax for at least another day in Southern California...and check out something else...but doing it by myself...BORING...I'd be lost.

Ok...perhaps most of it is not earth-shattering or anything...but the pre-planned surgery is.

It was never like this prior to 2004 (before my surgeries)...but since then...changes were necessary...that's why traveling has been so difficult for me since then.

Wish I has the pre-2004 Hector.

3 replies out of 101 views? I guess that says it all. Sorry Sandy, I tried.

That's two weekends away from the daycare performance. I'm working like crazy on costumes right now. I can only wonder what else I will need to do two weeks prior.

Have fun at Sandy's and make sure to take lots of photos.
