    Search Engine Tech Support

Here's my dilemma...maybe someone is techy and can point me in the right direction....

Computer, laptop, ipod....all connected through Roadrunner and Cisco Linksys router....

When using Google (as well as Yahoo and Bing) the last several days I've had the problem of when I click on one of Google's suggested topic links it either brings me to a third party search engine (various ones, although I keep noticing "look-search"), brings me to a third party ad relating to the topic I'm looking for or brings me back to the "Google" home page.

I'm a lot more lucky if I'm using Google Images but that too seems to sometimes bring me to ads or back to the home page when clicking on a photo link.

In addition, the last week or so we've been losing the wireless connection altogether and have to constantly reboot the router (which is about a year old).

Norton Security on the laptop shows no major threats or any outstanding issues....

So...Virus? Router going bad? Combination of both? Solution? HELP!

Bad router wouldn't send you to ad sites. Sounds like a virus. Comcast offers a free Mcafee virus to members if you have that account. It's usually updated well to any new stuff that's out there. I usually download it, run it, and then I remove it to keep it from using up processor speed.
It's not a doll it's an action figure.

sounds like the goored malware. Nothing major but a redirector when searching. It it will work for you on google type in gooredfix.exe The minor app will fix the issue

That's true. It's happened to me few times when I clicked on ad sites that almost crash my computer down!!

I had McAfee that had bothering me a lot to tried made me to paying for that again over again so I rid it and installed "Supper Anti Spyware" that never ask me to pay again, just only one time for many years is works awesome for my 3rd used computer with new parts in the hard drive.

Also, "Trojan" that killed my 2nd computer system!!!

Get Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware (it's free) and run it and see if it picks up anything

Chances are it will pick up stuff Norton and Mcafee usually miss.

I never cared for Norton or Mcafee. I switched to AVG free and it works really well.

AVG is good for virus's, but not blocking malware

With AVG, malware can sneak into your computer take over and disable everything - including AVG (which is what happened to me)

Never think having AVG or any other virus protection alone is good enough.
