    I believe those guys are pulling a huge prank. If you visit their website they claim you can run a TV with a AA battery and a RCA cable.

      I don't know a whole lot about electricity but I do remember reading in The Dangerous Book for Boys a way that you could light a small light bulb using just quarters, Aluminum Foil, and wiring.

        i didn't watch the video so i don't know the specifics BUT you can certainly get power from the onion and electrocytes. every year in fourth grade we charge a digital clock with a potato. it would be possible to power the ipod but i wonder how you regulate the power so you don't destroy your ipod and had did they make the connection? did they plaug the usb cord into the ipod and cut of the other end? even so - it is a more complex wiring system than a digital clocl with one 14 guage positive and one neg wire.
        All you need to do is have metals that attract or repel the electrons in the item you are using for power. With the potato clock copper and steel leads are stabbed into the potato. the clock will run for a week or so.
        the same idea is used with the lightbulb, quater experiment.
        with the tv and AA - i would think the voltage of the tv would need changed or a converter used because, though they could power it for a short time they would also possibly damage it.

          yeah they used the USB cord,but didn't cut it.Just plugged it in the onion.They said 2 cups of gatorade gives you about a 30 min. charge

            Yeah not regulating the amps that go into the device would more than likely damage it.

              I tried this…

              in my seventh grade science class. First of all the onion did not absorb anywhere near a cup of Gatorade (even when I left it overnight) and secondly it did not even cause my iPod to power up let alone charge it. I tried it twice with two different onions. I also poked two holes in the right and left side and then poking a hole all the way through…nothing.
