    Bald Brethren Unite!

As a result of my latest intervention, I have sen the light and now have come to accept that at my advance age, a comb-over cannot be be worn with any ironic urban hipster pose. So now I am sporting the sleek aerodynamic Bruce Willis (actually it's more like a Danny Devito if I were to be honest).

Friends, at what point did you embrace your follicular fate and embrace the Sexy Suave Stylings of Picard, Kojak, Sinead O'Conner, Jason Statham, Vin Deisel and Ron Howard?

(I am still not entirely unconvinced that I couldn't rock a Full Shatner though)

Oh man - I can't even really remember exactly when I started buzzing it. I got shorter and shorter - and finally just buzzed straight down one day.

As a teen I had a thick mass of hair - like John Travolta with a Jew-fro. In my early 20s I showed faint signs of a classic male pattern halo on top of my head. I'm pretty short - and a really tall girl I knew one day looked straight down and my head and shouted "OH MY GOD - YOU'RE BALDING!" So that was the first sign. I guess I started shaving it off before I turned 30.

I almost never shave all the way down though - I go for more of the Jason Statham 70s GI Joe fuzz look. Except the fat slob version of that.

My hair is thinning now so I rock the Sean Connery short hair cut type that he had in his Bond films....chicks dig it......

If the options are comb-over or clean buzz, I choose to let it shine.

God decided that my enormous brain needed more room than the hair follicles were allowing sometime in my early 30s.

I never did the comb over bit, just the short cut, later on the REALLY short buzz. And for a year or so I just shaved it all off, which was actually pretty liberating in a way, and which I liked, but the wife DID NOT.

So back to the Picard buzz. My biggest complaint is paying full price for the haircut which takes approx. 3 minutes. The least they could do is buzz s-l-o-w-l-y to make it seem like they worked for my money.

I started shaving my head about ten years or so ago. A very good friend was diagnosed with testicular cancer and had to go through two full rounds of chemo. He lost his prized mullet and was major-league bummed. I decided that since he was bald I'd join him. I haven't looked back either. I don't miss hair at all. If I go more than five days without a total shave, my head itches like crazy.

I had to grow some facial hair, though. If I didn't I'd look like Moby with a thyroid condition.

Ed, I look forward to seeing the baldness in June. My step son is of asian heritage(Korean) and he keeps his dome shaved as well. He looks exactly like Hines Ward.
I almost had a psychic girlfriend but she dumped me before we met.

If anyone here believes in psychokinesis, please raise my hand.

My bald self started in 2005. At that point I could no longer ignore the fact that my once pencil thin part had turned into a gorge.

great post/thread. I havent paid for a haircut since like 1989, no joke. Started thinning at a young age, like 19-20, I said whatever and went from the 80's long hair to skin head looking bald, bought my own buzzer, they cost me like 30 bucks, last me 3-4 yrs, shave my head once a month. Save on the cash and honestly I dont care for hair, bothered me a bit when it thinned out at 19, but once it was buzzed i was happy.

By 25 the hair was gone for me. Luckily, I have a nice round head.

I've definitely noticed that my hair has gotten thinner. It started around 30 I think. It's been a really slow thinning and it's very even, so I don't have bald spots or a receding hair line... It's just gotten thinner overall, as I've been getting older. I shave it in the summer months and usually just wear it short.

                              Hmmmm....

I used to have a LOT of hair. When I was in high school a friend put it in a viking braid (she was bored) and it went down to my belt. (And was about 4" thick.) I had to cut it short when I joined the army, and about 8 years back it started falling out so I take it right down to the wood now. (I'm not allowed to shave it off, although I have a weird bit in the front I have to remove. Otherwise I look like Strong Guy.)

....but I have MORE than enough everywhere else so's to make up for it.
