    a hanlin (a handling) – a complicated situation.
    affronted – embarrassed.
    ageein - Again.

    aye - yes.
    aye ryt - sarcastic, like if you disagree with someone. e.g That team is good...aye ryt they are to
    aye surely – Yes I agree.
    bags – trousers or someone calling ownership on something ie. I bags sitting in the front seat.
    banty – Usually means wobbly such as calling a bad footballer banty legs.
    bars – Gossip i.e. tellis us the bars hi (please tell us the gossip).
    bat in the mouth - punch in the mouth.
    batter on – to leave or move on.
    belter - brilliant.
    big lump – someone who is fat.
    blocked - drunk.
    blootered - drunk.
    boggin – dirty i.e. yer man's bags were boggin – his trousers were unwashed.
    boul - Bowl.
    boulted – ran i.e. the boulted down the street like the hammers of hell.
    brass neck - Very Bold
    bucketin – raining heavily i.e. bucketing down.
    burnie – hot – used in the terms of describing the temperature of food i.e. the stew is really burnie.
    c' mere a minute – come over here for a minute.
    c' mere hi – come here.
    cack – crap.
    canney - cannot. ye canney do dat, you cannot do that.
    canney houl yur water – said to someone who cant keep a secret.
    cat – crap.
    catch yurself on – grow up, wise up.
    chancer – someone who takes risks.
    chimley – chimney.
    chippy – fast food place that sells hot food.
    c'mere but I – I agree.
    class - brilliant.
    crabbit – grumpy or in bad mood.
    cracker - great/brilliant or really good.
    craic – having a laugh or fun.
    crips – crisps.
    culchie- someone outside of Derry who sounds as if they should be standing in a field with wellie boots and a pitch fork, basically a red neck.
    dander – slow walk.
    dead on – perfect, thanks, level. Used as different terms such as saying thank you or describing something that is perfect.
    deadly – brilliant/very good i.e. the match the day was deadly hi (todays football match was very good).
    deef - deaf.
    down the town – The city centre. Derry is on a hill so most people need to walk down the hill to get to the city centre.
    dry yer eyes – wise up and stop complaining.
    feardy custard – someone who is frightened of something.
    fish shop – a fast food place.
    Fishy – a fast food place.
    git away – go away. Usually said in agreement with someone.
    git off – to have a sexual encounter with someone.
    goney - going to.
    headin – going i.e. I am headin out tonight.
    hi – You. Probably Derry's must used word ever. We use it at the end of every sentence to highlight the fact we are talking to someone i.e. hi you hi.
    how's she cutting – how is it going?
    im monkeyed! - i am dead drunk!
    jist - just.
    lethal - brilliant.
    ma - mother.
    Magic Hi - Great!
    marra - tomorrow.
    mind - remember.
    mon you – come on you hurry up.
    mouth – someone who talks to much or brags.
    mouth as wide a the Foyle – someone who cant hold a secret.
    mucker – friend.
    natter - to have a good talk
    och dear aye – In agreement or saying yes.
    och yer alright hi – Thanks but no thanks.
    on the rip – drinking session.
    on the tear – drinking session.
    palatic – very drunk.
    Peelers - police.
    Plastered – very drunk.
    Poke – Ice cream cone.
    poke man – Someone who sells ice cream cones.
    poke van – the vehicle used by the poke man to sell pokes.
    sad about ye! - get over it!
    saunter - move.
    scranner - begger.
    Slabber – someone who brags or drooling at the mouth.
    snotter box - nose.
    sound – nice/grand/like/thanks – used as different terms but commonly used to describe someone who is friendly or simply to say thanks.
    stacks - plenty.
    stick – to make joke about someone.
    them there – that lot.
    themins – them over there.
    Wane – child.
    Waster – someone who is good for nothing.
    wee buns – very easy.
    wee critter – small child.
    wee minute – a small moment.
    wee nadger – a small child.
    wile - terrible.
    wile civil – very nice friendly person.
    wile colour - someone who is sick looking.
    wile dose – someone who is sick, usually with the flu.
    wile dry – thirsty.
    wile lukin - ugly.
    wile strange - weird.
    wise up – telling someone to be more mature.
    watdat? - what is that?
    Worser – worse than worse.
    Wrecked – tired.
    Wulla- will I?.
    Wunda - Window.
    yano? - do you know?/ do you know what I mean?
    yee - you.
    yer man – him there.
    yes boss – saying hello to someone, usually not your boss.
    yes hi – saying hello.
    yankin! - thats disgusting!
    Yu - you.
    yur heads a Marley - describing someone who is mad or crazy.
    yuve a neck on yee – describing someone who is cheeky.

                    I hear some of those terms every day.

                    That list is an assortment of various regional Anglo-Celtic colloquialisms and slang.
