If your looking for an investment buy gold. The toy market has been over-saturated since the 90's. The odds of anything post 1983 having any real long term value I think are slim to none. Just like comics before them, the market is now flooded and with every release collectors / resellers stock pile them right off the bat so their will never be a real scarcity.

Also, for people that say they give these figures to their kids and they love them.
That's all well and good but there's other factors that makes an adult want to collect stuff from their past.
A few things are remembering nostalgic TV commercials toy tie-ins, remembering playing with the figures with your friends, etc --- and remember seeing them in the store and BEGGING your parents to buy you them - which sometimes they didn't.
WE adults are on a different level than kids today will be when they grow up.Leave a comment:

Nope, Megos have value because of sentiment over them. a generation of kids grew up playing with these during the 70's. Megos were everywhere and many non mego collectors had them. We love Megos because of what they meant to us...
These versions will not have the same sentiment unless their parents bought them for their kids.......no attachment, no sentiment, which means in the long run will kill the market value for them.Leave a comment:

I personally think they'll eventually drop in value and stay down.
The Mego collecting generation is already here keeping their prices relatively respectable for the time being.
Eventually they will peter out with no new future generation that will want them in great numbers.

Actually their aftermarket value has started to grow over the past six months. Where initially the first wave were routinely being sold for half the shelf cost, they now average above retail price on Ebay's auction calculator. That's impressive and shows sustained interest in the line. It also demonstrates that Mattel has found a desirable production volume to satisfy market demand without leaving store pegs filled, as was the case with Wave one. So if your not seeing them on the shelves, that means you need to order them online before the price increases. As a rule, limited availability always drives up aftermarket demand. Will the Retro figures be worth anything?
Will these NEW Retro DC figures be worth any thing??
The Matty Green Arrow sells for $40 +.
How many were made??
How many of each wave were made??
If wave 2 was dumped at the discount chains.
Then there must be far less of wave 2 then maybe even the
Matty on-line figures?
The fact that TRU has none, or peg warmers.
Must mean they sell like crazy.
I don't think so, I'm a truck driver.
And this weekend alone, I have been to 9 different TRU's in 5 states.
All I could find(if any) were Lex, Senestro & Captiain Cold (new peg warmer?) And when I ask, they don't know about those figures.
I'm tolded to go and order them on line.
I love the fact that we have new Megos(Mattys).
But if Mattel is putting out the $$ to make these,
and comitting to the line for 6 -10 waves?? (who knows?)
Then why can't we go to the store and buy them??
If a new DC figure is $15 and up at the chains.
How is $20 that much difference?
Finding these figures is like, pulling a tooth out of a rattlesnake.
And NO, collecting & finding them is NOT half the fun.
It's all the pain!!
The FUN value is far more important to me.
I have 3 Grand-babies now, and I'm buying all the wife will let me.
Plus what I can sneek in.
Anyway, if you can awnser any of this?
