    Vintage Toys in Manhattan?

I'm staying in Queens for a few days and bored out of my mind. I worked in Manhattan for 2 years and have been going there since I was 14 years old. Now I feel like a tourist, because I have no clue what is left here.

I know of Toy Tokyo. I was last there about 2 or 3 years ago. Don't recall seeing any Mego stuff or vintage loose figures there. I just remember them being over priced.

Love Saves the Day is gone. I remember hearing about a place called Howdy Doo or something, but they are gone now too. I know St. Marks Comics has nothing in the way of vintage.

Forbidden Planet maybe? What the hell is left here? I have a hard time believing I cannot find anything good in NYC anymore.

Before the internet was the norm, when I was visiting my friend in NYC, I let my fingers do the walking through the Yellow pages. I went to several places, though I couldn't tell you their names, but give it a try. You might find some cool little collctor's niche.

'Cos I believe, I believe that I do,
Yes, I can see I believe that it's magic
If your mission is magic your love will shine true."

Check out mid city comics. There are a few locations. One in times square area, and another near Grand Central. When I was there a few months back, they had many of the new retro action figures as well as a few loose star tek original mego's

They also have cool comics and other goodies
      mego's befo ho's

Went there. Closed by the time I got there. I really should of stayed home. Everything I spent, I spent on transportation.

I went to St. Marks Comics just for the hell of it. I was dumb founded by their prices. $300 for loose Star Trek figures, haha. $30-$50 for loose, incomplete and play with Star Wars...

        NYC sucks now.

I might go back today and hit Jim Hanley's Universe. Last night was weird. I worked in Manhattan for 2 years of my life, yet for some odd reason, I feel like a tourist when I go there now. I cannot remember crap about how to get around.

Felt like a stranger there last night, with so many places now gone. The only thing that remains are the attitudes and hipsters.

Yeah true, the city has changed a lot and many old places are gone....when Love saves the day and Village comics closed it blew my mind. even though Forbidden Planet is still around it's not the original store that was across the street that had more character to it.....

I'm not sure if Roger's comics on 14 and 7th avenue is still there haven't been there in ages.......that was a good shop Roger the owner was a great guy.

Village Comics was my favourite back in the day. A couple of years ago I walked up and down Bleaker St trying to find it thinking my memories of it must have been affected by the cloaking spell that Dr Strange uses to hide his house.

Really like Forbidden Planet as well. If I'm remembering correctly, they had UK import stuff that didn't break the bank.

Aren't there a couple of stores in and around Toy Tokyo that also sell vintage toys as well? I seem to recall one downstairs (or perhaps across the street?) from Toy Tokyo that had display cases of Megos towards the back.
My store in the MEGO MALL!

BUY THE CAPTAIN CANUCK ACTION FIGURE HERE!

I went to Forbidden Planet and asked if they had any vintage Mego. The guy helping me had no idea what Mego was. I then asked about the Mego book and they said they never heard of a book strictly about Mego figures.

I went to the Brooklyn Flea in Williamsburg today. Absolute crap. All I got was a Torpedo v1 GI Joe figure.

Over priced junk and too many hipsters. I hateee hipsters!
