So, in my previous thread, I described the frustrations my family experienced while trying to adopt a dog. Well, today the wife & daughter went down mid-day and found that the area's large shelter wasn't very busy. The people took time & suggested dogs, tested them with the shelter's poor test cat (a true ninja), and let the family spend some time with a dog. Presenting the newest member of the family,
Dr. Bombay:

He's a mix, but not sure of what. I'd bet there's some Greyhound in there because of his posture (big chest, shinny waist). Maybe some Lab, too. He's got lots of energy, but settles down OK. He & our cats (Samantha & Tabitha) are getting along much better than I'd hoped, which is to say that the cats are avoiding the dog, and he's leaving them alone. I didn't think I'd be bringing a dog home tonight, but there you go.
