Idol has been really bad for the past 4 seasons. THE SHOW to see when it comes to music competition is The Voice. You can watch a rerun of tonights 2 hour opener blind auditions tomorrow night on NBC. Right now it looks like Adam Levine's team is the strongest in the competition. 2 of the 3 that he has so far look like they will go very far in the competition. The only draw back of this show is Carson Daly...He needs to go back to MTV. He should just try to be himself instead of trying to be hip.

Idol Sucks...The Voice is THE Music Competition Show...

Saw the show...pretty good.
The difference is that these singers are more polished than the amateurs at American Idol...and many are actually seasoned pros who just have not had that big brake yet.
No age limit here either.
I like the format how the "judges/mentors" have their backs to the singers...and are only listening to the voice...they have no idea what they look like until they push the button...then the singer chooses which mentor to go to.
One instance...this beautiful Indian girl sang...but none of the four mentors pushed the button...and when the chairs were turned and rotated to take a look at her...one of the mentors dropped his jaws...and regretted not pushing the button...because she was a looker...and had potential to be marketed...but too late...so she's out.
Good show...quite different than American idol...and that's a good thing.sigpicComment

The show has been great these past 2 weeks...The battle round has been really good. Blake has made a mistake by choosing the country singer of the R & B singer in the 1st battle round week and Christina has made a mistake tonight with her choice. So far Ce-Lo's team looks really strong. Interesting show so far...Much better singers than have been on the last 4 Idol Seasons. The singers on this show seem to be that much better at taking direction."When not too many people can see we're all the same
And because of all their tears,
Their eyes can't hope to see
The beauty that surrounds them
Isn't it a pity".

I agree in that the singers from "The Voice" are already pre auditioned so nobody is horrible. I do think that this season's American Idol contestants have been the best all around group ever. That 17 year old County singer from American Idol sounds like a professional right now and could probably beat the best singer on "The Voice" right now. The one thing I completely hate about Idol is the show when they vote someone out. This could take place in 5 minutes but they stretch it into an hour show. It will be interesting to see if they do the same thing with "The Voice" when the real competition begins. I also don't like the 10 pm time slot. I'm practically falling asleep towards the end of the show. Maybe the ratings aren't good. I know the Dancing With the Stars elimination show is on the same night but that is boring too. It could be a 5 minute process but maybe these elimination shows get high ratings."The farther we go, the more the ultimate explanation recedes from us, and all we have left is faith."

Dia Frampton...my favorite The Voice contestant and indie chick now...

I dig Vicci Martinez too (she sang Dollie Parton's Jolene today, but the video is not up yet)...

The thing about The Voice performers is that many already have performed on stage...done videos...and have had record deals...but have not hit it big yet.
Here're some Dia Frampton videos with her sister (Meg & Dia)...

In terms of pure voice...Javier Colon is the one...the only contestant to have had all four judges spin their chairs in agreement...

He's the odds on favorite right now.Last edited by Hector; Jun 15, '11, 12:04 AM.sigpicComment

Javier Colon has a lot more range...plus I prefer his cleaner smoother voice...I don't think I could stand hearing an entire album of that kid's deep country music bass voice...I'd go mad...lol.Last edited by Hector; Jun 15, '11, 1:37 AM.sigpicComment

There are still some TERRIBLE singers on The Voice, but overall the format is much better than Idol.
The Voice actually feels like a REAL singing competition.Comment

Finally got caught up with the Voice, thank God for "On Demand", and I have to say don't sell Vikki Martinez short. Her performance of Dolly Parton's "Jolene" was AMAZING. Javier oversang (word?) "Angel". What Adam said before the performance is so true "He can sing anything...and that may be the problem" (Paraphrasing). Some times singers fall in love with their own voice and what it can do.
Final 4 will probably be Javier, Vikki, McLullen, and Dia. I really think Vikki will give Javier a run for his money."When not too many people can see we're all the same
And because of all their tears,
Their eyes can't hope to see
The beauty that surrounds them
Isn't it a pity".

The final four are set...and I agree with the picks...
Cee Lo, whose team was the first to hear the news, said scoring his contestants had been "very difficult." But he gave Nakia a slight edge with 51 points compared to 49 for Vicci Martinez. Once America's vote had been added in, however, Vicci was triumphant and moved on to the final round. "I'm having heart palpitations," she said.
Adam's contestants, Javier Colon and Casey Weston, were next to take the stage. "I had to play the game a little bit," Adam said, explaining why he gave Casey just 35 points and Javier 65. "I had to advance him. This is a decision that I made." The voters agreed – and put Javier through. "Casey, you're going to be fine," Adam told her. "I swear to God."
Blake, who coached Dia Frampton and Xenia to the semi-finals, gave each contestant 50 points. "I love 'em," he said. "You can't put a score on that." Once the votes were counted, their scores were still the closest of the night – 106 to 94 – with a tearful and appreciative Dia pulling slightly ahead.
Finally, Christina said her contestants, Frenchie Davis and Beverly McClellan, were like "apples and oranges," and so she gave them each 50 points. But America put through Beverly, who said the decision was "crazy." "She's going to bring the house down next week," Christina said.
The Final Four:
Vicci Martinez
Javier Colon
Dia Frampton
Beverly McClellan
Definitely the best and most polished performers.
American Idol is dead...long live The Voice...
