Does 3-D Television have a future?

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sod-w..._order&list=UL

Any early adapters to 3-D TV here? What's your experience thus far beyond the novelty?

I'm thinking it would probably be home video game applications that pushes this technology forward. Particularly if you combine it with something like Kinect for the xbox. Particularly in games that utilize 1st person perspectives.

Not in its current form. Didn't blow me away like HD TV did when I first saw it.

I think it's a marketing gimmick pushed by the studios and technology companies to make us buy expensive TVs again.

In it's current form, not a chance. Most people don't want to wear clunky glasses when watching TV (once in a while at the theatre, sure, but not every day at home watching TV for long periods of time). Plus, there is a lack of programming in the format, and the technology is apparently unsafe for children's still developing eyes. I would be very, very surprised if this technology succeeds at any level beyond a very niche market. Mainstream? Forget it. Personally, I started noticing eye strain after watching a demo TV for a few minutes. I'll stick to a nice, sharp, colourful HD picture thank you, it's nearly three dimensional enough for me.

Interesting that the new Nintendo DS is 3D without glasses...I wonder if that kind of technology will be used in TV's eventually. I would like 3D tv, but I do worry about my eyes a bit.

We don't really give Pornography it's due as an agent of social change. It may well make this a household item.
I'm actually not saying it to be funny -
The VCR didn't really take off until a bunch of people figured out they could swap tapes of stuff they were embarrassed to check out of the video store. Then everyone's rich uncle had one in the den, arguing the kids could watch ET whenever they wanted.
Kind of the same thing with the internet, actually. It didn't take off as commercial enterprise until peeps figured out transfer protocol for images. Same reason.
Just sayin' ... if the technology does improve, I will bet T2's that that is the market pressure driving it. (but I would still only want it for nintendo benefits, I'm sort of a prude like that, just like everyone else)

Personally I get a headache after about 15 minutes. In addition, my kids can't stand wearing the glasses for more than 1/2 hour; they also complain of headaches. 3D-TV may have a market somewhere, but not in my home.

I actually love 3-D tv my parents have one and its alot of fun watching stuff on it. Heck my kids are even enjoying educational programs on it when we go over there. Nothing like watching undersea programs in 3-D. I enjuy it so much that my Wife and I are talking about getting one.

It does not have much of a future for me at my house at this point. Of course all things are subject to change as with anything in life. I have yet to be wowed by it as of yet. Then again I am not a real big TV buff to begin with. As long as my gf does not request it to watch her soaps then the chances of a 3D TV are very slim at my house.

Personally I am still holding out for holographic images. HTV - I know it will happen one day.

Then it will take Pornography to a whole new level.

I have a really bad lazy eye so I can't even see 3-D in real life.

If 3D catches on, I'll get it on my next TV. I like 3D and would love to see Polar Express in the 3D that approximates how I first saw it in Imax. Waiting to see if it actually catches on, which means the quality will improve and the price will go down.

Yup. Look at how porn is planning on using the Xbox Kinect.

                              No it has no future.

3D's second 15 minutes of fame are just about up.
