How old were you when you stopped playing w/ toys?
Collecting comic books and building model kits replaced buying toys for me. So around, 11 or 12 I guess. As the Comic Book industry declined after the bubble burst in the 1990's I wandered into a toy store and bought a Captain America Toy Biz figure and toy collecting built up steam again.
If by "playing" you mean "acting out adventures", I'd say 14. Then my best friend left, and I kind of lost my taste for toy adventures, being all by myself.
I never stopped trying out the features, posing them, getting them displayed just right...
But the kid inside me is still very much alive. This may sound really stupid, and it probably is, but a lot of times when I'm going up some stairs in my house, I just cannot resist going into full SAS mode, invisible rifle in hand, and checking all the corners for monsters and zombies that might be lurking there.
Do you think I need to see a doctor about this?

I never stoped playing with my toys. My twin brother and I kept on playing with Star wars, then gijoe and when superpowers hit the shelves watch out but that said at 14 we tried to hide collecting and playing with toys like a junkie hiding an addiction in the 80's. I would sneak into toy aisles or TRU look to make sure no one I knew was nearby etc
Luckily one day when I was 16, in the GIjoe aisle I ran into a kid from down the street who was a couple years older than me and was the coolest kid I knew. Oh no I thought I'm busted. he asked if I was buying a gijoe I stammered and stubmled some lame excuse. turns out he was a joe collector too and openly said oh I'm looking for myself. What a relief - we may have been geeks but we weren't alone
that night he showed us his toy room of vintage 60 's joes it was like a glimpse into heaven (10 years before the timeless collection reissues). it re-iginted my love of 12" joes and made me pull our last remaining vintage joe (lifelike body talker) from the attic and get him repaired.
I then knew it was ok to buy and play with my toys as well as be proud of it. Changed my life for the better
I am 38 years old and have always played with toys. Writing out adventures for my Marvel and DC heroes....Writing down matches for my WWE guys. I would play out MANY times Sentinels killing off the X-men etc. Now with Marvel universe...It is a whole nother dimension for me. I am attractive and a bodybuilder. But man am I NERD underneath it all. I own my Monster Cafe so I am deep into nerd dom. Just in case no one has seen it...Incompatible Browser | Facebook

Stopped? I mostly went from playing to collecting with no gap in between, but I was definitely well into my teens and I was still playing with them sometimes. Glad to see I wasn't alone.
