How old were you when you stopped playing w/ toys?

It seems that kids are giving up toys younger and younger these days in favor of ipods, cell phones and the like. How old were you when you stopped playing w/ toys? (not counting the nostalgic collecting phase)

I was 12. Then in my 20s I started again.

'Cos I believe, I believe that I do,
Yes, I can see I believe that it's magic
If your mission is magic your love will shine true."

I'd say by the end of 5th grade, I was pretty much done with playing with toys (I was playing sports, video games and all that), BUT I always was allowed to get an action figure when my younger brother would get one and I'd play with him a lot and give him ideas for adventures and stuff. He was of the type that could combine Ninja Turtles/G.I.Joe/He-Man on one big adventure and I wasn't having any of that.....

He still brings up how I would muscle him out of the way to set up his battles and playsets......what a little jerk I was....

Hard to say.., perhaps about '75 or so.., then I got my first paper route.

'Course then the whole Star Wars tidal wave came.. and I WISHED I was younger.

It was all 'collecting' after that.

                Hmmm,

                I was born in '65

The first toy/figure I ever recieved and felt too old to play with was Kennner's SMDM

Whatever year they came out is around when I stopped wanting younger toys

I remember being thrilled by Micronauts when they came out (and into them as toys enough to be devastated when I got the wrong color Space Glider for Christmas that year) . . . I was probably in 6th grade then.

But I think it was the following Christmas that I remember asking for Pulsar (y'know "the Ultimate Man of Adventure") mostly beacuse it didn't feel right not to put a toy on my list, and he was pretty cool. But that marked the point where I wasn;t so much playing weith toys as creting scenes or dioramas with them, making up stories and my own ideas for their adventures and trying to write and draw them. Plus, with three younger brothers (the youngest around 3 then) I'd play with them with all the action toys. So I kinda eased out of it.

I gave away all my superhero Megos to a younger friend when I was in the 6th grade. An I'm too old to play with dolls kind of deal. But I regretted it early and often. I kept the Star Wars and Star Trek toys because they had some kind of sci-fi collection adult respectability thing.

                            Hmmmm....

I never really stopped either; although things went from free-play to the Floor War when I was around 12. (Floor War was how I'd learn new RPGs: I'd pick a bunch of figures, roll up some stats and run through some scenarios.)

I was in 7th grade when all my toys were handed down to my younger cousins who promptly destroyed them. It was 10 years later in '96 when I got back into collecting and '99 when I got into playing with them again ala silly photos and such. Now however I never want to close my Toy Box again.
