I don't wanna say I've given up on it, but I think it's safe to say the chances of me directing a "Star Wars" or Indiana Jones movie are somewhere between incredibly slim and none. LOL
1) Wanted to be a grad student in Mathematics.. My 2nd yr of undergrad Calculus got the best of me.
2) Astronaut... But that's alright. A few years back in my childhood, I finally realized that regardless of the esteem and prestige of sitting on top of a Saturn V heading to the moon, it's STILL a government operation, parts and warrenty sold to the lowest bidder..
Wanted to be an actress, never happened.
Wanted to be a singer, never happened.
Wanted to write a TV series, never happened.
Fortunately I get to utilize all these skills working w/ children. Maybe someday, a children's book.

'Cos I believe, I believe that I do,
Yes, I can see I believe that it's magic
If your mission is magic your love will shine true."
I have real ambitions and dreams that I've had to put away, but I haven't let go of, yet, but it's all good. The only one that I am really disappointed with is the not being wealthy thing

oh if only we had you directing the new star wars flims, they might have been as great as we all wish they could have been
RCHE a vintage car project can be a love affair and a source of pain at the same time. a 63 bonne is a wonderful car and should it be finished it will be a show stopper but as is always the case you have to gauge the costs in time and money against your love of the project
if the project is an investment it may not be worth it but if it's for you and you have an emotional attachment to this car (as oppossed to just wanting a 63 Bonnevile or catalina) like it was a project you took on with someone special or the car of a loved one it's probabyl worth keeping despite the possible costs.
when i was 18 my grandfather had this beat up 77 el camino and I joked with my brother "you know he's going to leave this heap to us and we'll spend the next 30 years fixing it" he the truck died 4 years later and he went 2 years later. when he passed I almost wished he still had that truck for me to have that connection forever. My brother still has the last car he owned (a 96 dakota rwd) and we would never get rid of it
Unlike Sandy I gave up on the Hollywood Dream 5 years ago I spent from 1998-2006 and also living in LA Between those years chasing that BS Business
I can go into great detail about it but I wont I havent been back to LA in five years ! Im glad I came to my senses Im just sorry I have a worthless Drama Degree from Cornish College of the Arts
Not so much of a dream as much as ambition. I have offered multiple professional opportunities throughout my career which would have meant a move to a new city. Whenever those few opportunities have been thrown my way, my wife would refuse to even go look at the area. I don't regret it though. I do love my job and love where I live.
I have always had a dream of writing a book someday. My job and children's activities currently take up the majority of my time but I guess that's really no excuse. If I wanted it that bad, I would just get up an hour earlier and spend an hour writing. Sometimes I have these great ideas for a story but I don't write them down and I forget about them. Maybe one of these days.

The very first dream I gave up on was being a comic book artist. It wasn't a matter of not reaching it, so much as what was required to stay in it. The starving artist theory is very true here. Not much career potential.

I usually don't share my successful advice with others without first charging $19.99 So consider this a real good tip - Always keep a note pad handy.
Paper has become so inexpensive that you can have a note pad on every counter to jot your random notes down whenever need be. This really does help.
I do this myself as I do not want to take a chance on forgetting something worth remembering and I also have a digital recorder that I carry with me as well.
Enjoy what you like, and let others enjoy what they like. (C) Azrak 2009
