Being a huge Washington Redskins fan, this is just heartbreaking news.

He was one of the stars from the team and Joe Gibbs even mentioned last night that he was seeing a level of maturity develop in him that was starting to take him to the next level.

The local stations were doing full coverage on his death this morning and it was just heart wrenching. Even the news casters were fighting back tears in the coverage.

Obviously, I don't know the guy personally but as a big Redskins fan, you feel like you get to know them and he was one of my favorite players from the team.

Last night, it appeared that he was going to be ok. I had the news on and they said he had come out of his coma and was responding to doctors including blinking his eyes and squeezing a doctor's hand so I went to sleep with the hope that everything was going to be ok and then to wake up to the devestating news that he had died overnight.

The players are in complete agony and there is a lot of talk now about how they can play an NFL game this weekend with such a sudden tragedy.

It's way too early to say but there were even statements being made that he was developing in a such a way that he could have turned out to be a Hall of Famer and one of the best to play Free Safety but no one will ever know.

Anyone who has ever lived in this area knows that the Washington Redskins are the most followed team around regardless of how good or bad they are and all other sports teams play second fiddle.

wow I'm in still in shock, being in Miami and watching him play on Saturdays with the Canes and seeing what a great player he was, this really hurts.I thought he was the best Safety in football and really do think he could've been one of the all-time greats.

It's really sad to see him go so young.RIP Sean

It's sad to see Ebay sellers looking for a quick buck listing autographed Sean Taylor items today but I also wonder what people are thinking bidding these items into the stratosphere.

There is a replica jersey with his autograph that is currently selling for over $500 and the auction isn't even over yet....pretty disgusting if you ask me.

It's too bad especially if he was turning his life around. I truly believe this has something to do with his past history. Heard a report that 10 days ago he came home and found a knife lying on his bed. That sounds like a threat to me. Looks like one even more now. They didn't steal anything in that break in, so I have a hard time believing this was a botched robbery.

I don't know what's going on down in Miami but the entire local news broadcast up here in D.C. was devoted to him.

It almost seemed awkward when they would go over to weather or anything else to see a bummed out weather man tell you it's going to be 50 degrees today.

Crowds are holding vigils at Redskins park. We've never had anything like this happen before in the local community but there is a real outpouring of emotions over his sudden loss.

I had people at work walk up to me and tell me they were sorry for my loss....I don't know the guy. They just know I'm a huge Redskins fan.
