Classic Movies you saw on opening day..

What classic movies or really any older movie do you remember seeing on opening day?
For me it was RETURN OF THE JEDI
Line was so long I must have waited 2 or three showings to finally see it!

I AM a classic so it's hard to say...Uhm... First movie I can remember seeing in the theater was "Beneath the Planet of the Apes" in 1970 or '71. If you talking blockbusters, it would have to be Jaws.

          None..

Seriously.., I believe Star Wars, Empire, and Trek-TMP were within the first few days of release or so. Never bothered to wait in mile-long lines.

I was at one of the US Premieres for DW's "The Five Doctors" (all shown on the same day). Does that count..?

Jaws, in a little movie theater in the beach town of Lewes, Delaware (which reminds me quite a bit of Amity!). I didn't get in the water past my ankles the rest of the vacation!

Opening day? Roxanne, Indiana Jones & The Temple of Doom, Star Trek III - ST6, Day of the Dead, Robocop, Back to the Future 2, but those were rare occasions. I had to sneak out just to see 2010: The Year We Make Contact & Back to the Future when they played in theaters. My parents would let me dissappear all day sometimes in the huge local park, (Flushing/Corona, NY), but not let me see a movie by myself. Makes no sense.

The only movie I think I actually saw on opening day was Kill Bill Vol 1. I caught the very first showing on the first day at around noon because I couldn't wait to see it. There were only about a half dozen people in the whole theatre because it was the middle of the day on a week day. I sat riveted though out, what a great film. In most cases, I usually wait a week or so before seeing a film so that the crowds die down. Unless I think that a film might only play for a week because it's not exactly mainstream (that's why we saw "Mystery Science Theater 3000 The Movie" on opening weekend )

Does Howard the Duck count? I couldn't wait to see that, then wished I could have waited.

I'm sure some others, too, but it is hard to remember all of them.
                            It's all good!

I know I saw Star Wars the first day. I hated sitting outside on the curb of the parking lot all day, but the movie was more than worth it. I wish I still liked it, though. It was my favorite movie for a lot of years.
