Great stuff but I have to revert to my geek/trekkie persona to say disagree with listing Star Trek II. If you had to trace it, STII re-hashes their TV episode Balance of Terror where they play Submarine Battle with the Romulans. Nicholas Meyer wrote in his Bio about how there was no script for STII even a couple of weeks before they were to start filming. He is a big Horatio Hornblower, nautical fan. So it really came from him and he is not a big Star Wars fan that I can tell. He likes ALIEN more.

I agree with johnmiic about ST2 it's way closer to a ST TOS space battle story like Balance of terror or Romulan incident than star wars. even the style of the space fight scene isn't in the Star wars dog fight style it's more like run silent run deep

I don't agree with a lot of them.

Yeah, I agree completely. ST2:TWOK was extremely loyal to TOS, both in story and tone. Also, one commenter suggested Dune was a Star Wars ripoff, when it was pretty much the other way around.

Don't agree with Krull. That to me was more trying to cash in on Conan or Clash of the Titans.

Yeah, I do not agree with most of those.
                It's all good!
