Back to the original post; it is definitely curtailing my activities. I don't just make a quick trip to the grocery store on a whim anymore. I consolidate trips and don't just take my car on a whim. It probably won't personally curtail our vacation plans even at $5.00 a gallon other than having to cut back on some otherwise discretionary spending.

From what I gather, it's also an issue with refining. There's plenty of oil available, but if it was refined any faster or efficiently, it would be harder to justify gouging the public.

I am seeing a lot of Hummers for sale right now. I could never imagine why though.

I pulled into the gas station last week and a guy was getting out of his car and he was looking over at me when I was pulling up. He was saying something as I was pulling up, but my window was up with the air on and I had not got out of the vehicle yet. ????

I stepped out to see what was up and he was saying Swuuuheeeet! I am thinking what is this guy talking about? He said that he was talking about my Hummer and how he liked it.

He said he had one once upon a time and now he misses it dearly. He had to get rid of his in the divorce settlement no thanks to his now ex-wife.

His story kind of reminded me of that Brad Paisley's fishing song. "I sure am going to miss her". The wife that is. LOL!!!

imagine bumpers sticker on the back of the Hummer. Take the wife, but leave the Hummer.

I do not like the gas prices much either these days, but I will keep my Hummer just the same thank you very much. Seeing how the rest of my cars are sports cars and I run high octane in all of them. Tomato/Tomatoe.

When it comes to g"***" prices you definitely will not win either way.

I just want to say in brief without turning this into a political statement that from what I heard that the US is basically consuming the other countries oil supplies rather than using ours up. This way when and if the other countries run out tof oil he US will in turn be charging even BIGGER bucks to the foreign countries.

It is all about the old might dollar and of course supply and demand.

$5.00 a gallon gas prices actually comes as no big surprise to me. In fact if one took a care to search back in the archives I believe I stated that this was very likely to happen by 2012. And at the rate the gas prices keep climbing I would say that we are on track for that amount without exageration.

Someone making conversation at the gas station today told me today that "they" heard that gas was going to eventually reach $10.00 per gallon. I sure hope that whatever they heard was wrong as that was the first I heard that. Hopefully they have no idea what they are really talking about and was high off of the 4 something a gallon gas fumes they have consumed filling their tank.

That maybe likely 10 years from now, but I could not imagine seeing those kind of prices at the pump for another couple of years. UNLESS of course there would be some kind of catastrophe to drive the prices up.

As it is now a lot of people are still trying to digest and comprehend the gas prices going up to $5.00 a gallon.

maybe just maybe people will stop driving so much and i won't have to breath in as much exhaust fumes. but alas people will continue to drive just as much while blaming someone else for their woes

This certainly won't keep me from my planned trip to the Mego Meet this year. If it got too high, I would just lease a motorcycle.

Sadly, and I hate to say this, but I think there will still be a lot of peeps driving even if the gas reaches $10.00 a gallon hypothetically.

From what I have seen so far it would seem that the more the gas goes up the more people actually WANT to drive just to show other people that they can still do it. Kind of like child psychology. Tell them they can't or should not do it and they will do it just to try and spite you.

For whatever that is worth. I myself am definitely not trying to impress anyone.

Say thank God you're not living in some European countries like Italy. It's about $5 a LITRE. That's about equivalent to $15 a gallon.

Every time it goes up i cringe. I am a distributor for USA Today and drive about 800 miles a week. Pretty soon there will be no margin for profit.

1.39 a liter last week here.
If I traded my car for a horse,it probably wouldnt be better considering the price of grain and visits to the vet.........
