What is this new crap paypal is doing?

Paypal is telling its members that starting Jan 2012,members will not be allowed to use their system to receive or make payments of any type until the member agrees to the new e notification system, (I cant remeber the exact name) all notifications for the account will be done trough email including tax paper work, what does this mean for the member? anyone have any ideas yet?

Every time I see a new thread about PainPal and or EvilBay it kind of makes me laugh.

I am soooo glad that I am totally through with Evil Bay and Pain Pal's sheet. Anything Evil Bay touches eventually turns to crap.

Now I am just waiting for the others to see the light at the end of the tunnel.

I don't know if I literally "laugh" every time I see a thread like this and comments debasing EBAY and citing signs of it's demise... but I sure am amused.

Maybe it's because I merely buy on Ebay and haven't sold on there in years.

Over the last 15 or so years I've made purchases of a couple hundred
items... the greatest things, things that I could never have imagined
buying any other way before or after the existence of Ebay.

Every time I read on threads here that something is going wrong with the
system and it's just the worst... somewhow things move on and
Ebay continues, and I continue buying from Ebay sellers with little
      hassle... if any.

Even if Ebay WAS to end tomorrow, I can speak of an experience that
hasn't been only "positive" in nature... but almost unimaginable in it's "riches".

        true dat

because we, the little people, can have direct input in sales and service we tend to see the pitfalls of ebay while not seeing the advantages or understanding the alternatives: without ebay there is no buyer for the wares we pedal. without paypal there is no simple reliable structure for accepting credit.

does walmart let sellers put stuff on there shelves? does your local craigslist reach as many people? how much did the newspaper charge for ad space to reach a tiny fraction of potential buyers? do you know what it takes to set up your own credit payment service?

ebay and paypal have their pitfalls but as whole they provide valuable services to sellers and buyers. there are other options to buy and sell. right now these are the biggest and dare i say it?...the best.

We received the notification and from what I can tell all they are doing is going totally paperless. I may be wrong but if that's all it is then it's no big deal.

Many companies are doing this to save $$$ and we all know how broke PayPal is.

I remember before Paypal having to purchase money orders at the post office or waiting for checks to clear. For a couple of items I sold internationally, they wired money via Western Union and I had to drive to a local office to pick it up.

All systems have their faults, EBay and Paypal are no different. However, from a buyers perspective I see EBay as Flea Marketing at a World scale; which is pretty cool. Now I have not sold on EBay nor am I likely to ever start, but purchasing on EBay and paying with Paypal is pretty easy, and since these companies design their business model around customer service for the consumer I would say they are doing okay.

you are correct, the new message from paypal is mainly an agreement for a new email way of them to notify/send you any statements and such if you previously got that info sent to you via snail mail
