    Manny Ramirez suddenly retires

Flying around on Twitter right now: MLB sent out a press release saying that Manny Ramirez chose to retire today after being informed he had an issue with the league's drug program. Pure speculation on my part is that he probably tested positive for a banned substance again, meaning a 100 game suspension.

Say what you will about his hijinx, he was an entertaining baseball player with a beautiful swing.

I feel sorry for the Rays.

    Google search....................

Ramirez, who was 1-for-17 with the Tampa Bay Rays this season after signing as a free agent, tested positive for a performance-enhancing drug in spring training, according to Michael Schmidt of the New York Times.

he was a great hitter, sorry outfielder though...he was thinking about retiring this year..so it makes sense to retire instead of losing 100 games

Gotta feel sorry for the Rays in this. They are missing so many key elements right now. Though Manny probably would have been trouble down the line anyway.
                It's all good!

Just so you guys know, just about EVERYONE in pro sports are on steroids or a type of PHD in some form or another. It's very easy bypass the system. Baseball is no different. This is silly and the media makes it out to be a big thing. In the locker rooms the actual athletes don't care.

I see him all the time. He lives here in North Port. Two weekends ago My friend's Grandkids spotted him going into Blockbuster and asked him for autographs and a picture. He obliged which is not normal for him. I guess he is notorious for blowing you off when you ask him for a photo or autograph.

It still doesn't make it right. People like Manny, Roger, Barry, Mark Mgwire, Sammy Sosa should be made examples of. Permanent Ban of ever being in the Hall Of Fame. The day one of them get's in...Pete Rose should be put in. Steroid/Performance Enhancing Drug Users cheat the game of Baseball. End of story.

Pete Rose may have been a gambling idiot...but he never cheated the sport of baseball. They didn't call him "Charlie Hustle" for nothing. And this is coming from a Met fan that HATES Pete Rose for what he did to little Bud Harelson in '73. Man played hard and didn't need Steroids to so it either. Guys like Manny just cheapen the sport. Goodbye and good riddance to Manny Ramirez. Thank GOD the Mets didn't go after him last season.

I don't know bro, betting against your own team when you're the manager? that's cheating the game... but he should be in...even these guys, I know steroids helps you hit harder but not hit...so many of them do it that if you were to ban these guys there would probably be no more players inducted from 1986-present

yea he's been known to be a total jerk in person...he did a charity event here for children in need, I knew the person in charge who was Janet Reno's 2nd hand person for about 20 years and a great person i may add...she asked me about him since I love sports cause she knew he was famous but she wasn't into baseball, she said he gave almost nothing, told them he would sign nothing for anyone and at the end when he gave his check he tried to advertise his new wine line
