metal gods call it a day.

jeeze im still shocked to write this-

the gods of heavy metal and my favorite band in the world, JUDAS PRIEST are retiring from touring, this is their last tour- ever.

dang- the world without the priest.....hardly bears thinking about.
wether they will still record isnt entirely clear but dam-no more priest concerts.

    that sucks

ive loved the band my whole life- thanks guys for all the metal and all the best for the future.

I guess going out on stage with those walkers just doesn't fit the "metal" image anymore, eh?

          Hmmmm....

I heard about this a while back. On the up-side, Halford's still making albums, and he's got a sound a lot like classic Priest. (Not really surprising....)

Although I can appreciate losing a beloved band, I never really got into Judas Priest. On the other hand, it is probably about time; after all, aren't they all collecting Social Security at this point.

I've seen 'em live several times, almost every year at the Graspop Metal Meeting. From what I saw last time it was time to call it a day

I wouldn't mourn just yet, plenty of other kickass bands left.

I am actually kind of shocked to find metal/hard rock threads on this board. It's pretty cool to a guy like me who does this for a living. So, I'll chime in if you don't mind. If you do, then you should probably goto the next topic of your favorite choice.

Judas Priest has been talking about this for quite some time. A couple of the guys are just tired. It's also probably going to happen to Iron Maiden probably either next year or so.
When you've made so much money and so many albums what else can you do?

Judas Priest and Iron Maiden make new albums but nobody wants to hear them. Fans come to their shows for the golden oldies and that sometimes is a big kick to the nuts for bands like that who have been in the business this long.

Rob Halford (Judas Priest's singer) already plans to continue with his solo band. His new CD "Made of Metal" is pretty heavy and brutal.
The last Judas Priest album "Nostradamus" was a concept album but it really wasn't what the fans were looking for.

When the Priest call it a day, I will be there.

Somebody mentioned Ronnie James Dio up there and his passing. That to me was the biggest thing that has happened to me in a while when it comes to metal.
Ronnie was a great man and every show he played he let his fans know how much he appreciated them for putting him where he was. With Ronnie gone that was a wakeup call for a lot of men going to the doctors to get checked up for cancer.

Strangley, Ronnie James Dio's band is going to continue on this summer with the tour they planned. Calling themselves The Dio Disciples using ironically Tim "Ripper" Owens on vocals. It's a good idea....they never got to do the tour they rehearsed for while Ronnie was touring with Heaven and Hell.

To all the "old rockers" out there. It happens. People get old.
                            Metal horns to the Priest!

No joke, it's so good. Everything from Hell Bent for Leather through Turbo are must-haves, IMO.
