Quiet Riot Comes to Wisconsin (we're opening!)

Quiet Riot is back! With a new singer. My friend Mark Huff got the job! He was originally a Sammy Hagar impersonator in a Van Halen cover band called 5150. Talk about small ****ing world huh?

He is on the far right (dyed his hair to his natural color. He was a blonde)

Here are some recent clips of Mark Huff blowing the roof off the place in Kevin's shows. I don't like the word "replaced"...."in the shoes" sounds better...but hey...he can do it!!

    THREAD UPDATE: 5-24-2011

For people who don't want to read through all the BS.
To make it short, we opened for Quiet Riot May 21st in Janesville, Wisconsin.

    Here are the pix
I'm not going to blog down pix from our band opening for Quiet Riot but it was a find time. Had a couple Mego Museum guys make it out. Thanks Brad!

Nice to have some people from here care enough to come out and come all the way to watch us play.

Frankie Banali signing a drum head for a fan

"The secret door" Quiet Riot came into

    Frankie Banali again

    Chuck Wright (the bass player)

The guy in the middle is Mark Huff. He is a good friend of mind and now had the job singing for Quiet Riot. His voice will blow you away how close he sounds like the late Kevin Dubrow.

Quiet Riot had a stipulation contract that no fans were allowed to shoot video or pictures at the show. There was little midget roadie guys running around and slapping cameras. One guy almost got beat up, it was funny.

    Mark Huff: Lead Vocals

    Alex Grossi: Guitar

Thanks Brad for paying the money and checking out my band and then leaving. That means alot. I am glad you liked the CD.

    Our crazy guitarist, Allister Dawkins

    Our insane drummer, Bret 4:22

Me, getting a shot of my privates taken. Not sure what they were shooting.

Our nutty bass player, Jim Beam (Yes, that's his real name)

      Congrats.
You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...

That's really cool. Quiet Riot was one of my favorite bands growing up.

Congrats! My cousins son's band has played there. We went and saw him play. He is a very talented, self taught guitarist. It's only a 1/2 hour North of us.

Just for the record Quiet Riot actually began in 1973 but under a different name. Randy Rhoads started the band and they changed the name to Quiet Riot in 75. QR I and QR II were released in Japan in 1977 and 78 respectively. I have QR II and it took a while to find it back in the early 1980s. A guy who owned a used record shop in Carbondale, IL located it and other hard to find albums for me when I was attending SIU. Ironically he also got me a "promotional only" copy of Riot's Restless Breed (featuring Rhett Forrester-RIP) at the same time. "Loved by You" is a great song from that album.

I'm a big fan of Randy Rhoads and always considered him to be one of the greatest rock guitarists. Too bad he died so early in his career. It would have been cool to see what he would have done as he progressed over time.

If you ever listen to Ozzy perform Crazy Train it never quite sounds right without Randy playing the lead.

It should be a great show. The crowd usually brings great energy to the place for live shows. Blow the roof off!!

Well since it is on a Saturday it is doable. Funds are tight right now because we have to pay for our Chicago Bears season tickets on the fourth even though there's a lock out-Grrrrrrr!!

But since it is in late May there's time to come up with some $$ so we may pop up there. It's an easy drive up I90 and if I remember correctly there is plenty of parking. And to be honest we would be more interested in seeing your band play then seeing QR.

We're mostly into death and speed metal when it comes to concerts. We have seen Slipknot more times then I can remember. We did miss seeing Cradle of Filth again last month when they were in Chicago. We usually go to the Aragon, the Riv, the Tweeter Center (now the First Midwest Bank something), or the House of Blues in Chicago but right now there isn't anything that great in the near future at any of them.

And I told Maggy about the concert last night and she wants to go so it looks like we will get to see you rock out!!

The only time I saw QR was in Dallas, October 1984, with Whitesnake and Helix, on the Condition Critical tour. What an amazing show!!!! I'm really sorry Kevin's gone, but I hope I can catch the new lineup this year.

....and I thought maybe about two people would be even respond here. Glad to meet people who dig us. It's funny when people realize I am a hulking 6'5 guy...I think most people imagine me as a little guy with glasses and stubby hair.

I have met a lot of friends on here and I keep meeting more. Never met anyone in real life....though I have talked to a couple great people on the phone (including the Texas Teacher John himself who turned out to be my best friend!!! That would've been great! The only time I saw them, Eric Martin Band was opening for them and Sarzo was laying on his back while playing for most of the show. Not sure why, though.

                            Also, nice stuff, Wrathdemon!

I can appreciate what it takes to do what you do. I respect the sacrifices musicians make and I come from a musical family. Both my mother and her brother are music majors. In fact my uncle tunes pianos by ear in the San Diego area. He was even voted perfect pitch one year as he sent me a copy of the write up. I am not near as talented but I did take piano, clarinet, and guitar lessons as a youngster. The funny thing is that I taught myself to play the drums and that's what I played the best. Not great by any means but I enjoy playing on my early 70's Slingerland set. I'd love to have a huge, double bass Yamaha set but I can't see spending over $4000 on something I don't use that often.

I wanted to ask you if King Diamond influenced some of your music? I can hear a bit of them in some of your songs.

I love music and have a cd collection of about 1000 discs now. I am looking very forward to meeting you and am now pretty psyched to see the show. I'm very glad you posted this here.
