I collect Golden Books and other children's books and thrift stores are a gold mine for them. I also occasionally pick up an LP or two, mainly jazz or 70's-80's pop. I did luck out once a got 4 Beatles singles in wonerful condition for a buck apiece. I also lucked into a late 40's bakelite view-master (C type) and several Disney reels for $5.
Probably the greatest find I ever had was at the local Goodwill. My wife crafts and sewed these very ornate small pincushions that she sells on Etsy. Well, she accidently dropped 8 of them into the donation box down the road from us, two of which were already sold. Embarrassingly, she had to refund their money and explain why they weren't getting their item. That weekend I stopped in to the store (just to look around, but just in case I took a $20 bill with me) and happened across the pincushions she had dropped off just earlier that week. I snatched them all up and rushed home to show her. Needless to say the supper and "dessert" I got that evening was well worth that whole $20.Comment

I think it's guilt. She has a thing for 1930's art deco jewelry, in which some of those price tags on her rings put my entire collection to shame. We're both enablers to each other's hobby.Comment
