Maverick's takes another one of my brothers--

    Sad day for me.

Legendary Big-Wave Surfer Sion Milosky Drowns at Mavericks

Mav's is some heavy water... I've surfed it 30ft+ and the place is no joke. So damn heavy... Hard to describe to someone who isn't a surfer, but what I mean when I say heavy, is that when you fall on a wave that big at Mav's, it's like hitting concrete. That place is scary. It's the only wave I've ever surfed that is a literal monster... It's alive and it's a killer.

Damn... Sion, man... You're gone, but never forgotten. RIP brother.

Wife and two daughters left behind, too. That's very sad.

Not to sound insensitive, but he died doing what he loved and probably went out the way he wanted.

              RIP

                My condolences, Sandy...so sad.

I of course have never surfed...let alone the Mavericks...but I saw them once about a dozen years ago during one of those competitions...the waves are not only huge and cold as hell (and far away from land)...but they smash into rocks...no such thing as comfy sandy beaches there...I consider the Mavericks the most dangerous waves in the world.

                My condolences again.

I'm sorry to hear that. Terrible, terrible thing to hear.

Mavericks is dangerous for many reasons, and amazing it went so long undiscovered.
