Just backing up what Hector said about fruit juices. I saw a doctor a few months back to help me in my weight loss. I was told to quit all soda and believe it or not gatorade. Then what my doctor said shocked me. She said fruit juice was almost as bad because of the sugar. She said the difference between eating fruit and drinking fruit juice was when you eat fruit like say an apple it's what's in the fruit like fiber that helps.

So i used to drink almost a 2 liter a day. Maybe they lost cause of me..lol

This surprises me because I think Pepsi is way better then Coke. Just my opinion of course.

That does not surprise me at all. It does surprise me though that Pepsi has been beat out by a diet soda. That is down right sad.

Most every place vends Coca Cola and Pepsi is not even offered as a choice. Kids are growing up drinking/living on Coca Cola because Pepsi is not making a strong enough presence and as a result quite frankly Coke is readily available at almost every place on Earth. I personally do not like Coke as it is too carbonated for my taste buds. To each their own though.

I try to avoid drinking sodas for the most part. Although like every red blooded American I cave to that sugary substance every so often. Lately, When thinking of a soda I have acquired the taste for Mr. Pibb. Sadly though I hear that Mr. Pibb is on it's way out to. Pepsi will eventually follow in years to come at the rate they are going.

To this date I only know of one place in the STL area that actually gives the person a choice to drink Pepsi or Coke products both at the same place.

Time after time I hear the argument that both companies do not/will not vend to one single place at the same time. ??? Perhaps just a rumor either that or this one place must be the exception to the rule.

I like options. I do not like conforming or feeling forced to accept Coke products on every corner of the Earth in restaurants.

I think the biggest reason that Coke is more accepted everywhere is not just because it taste better but because they are less expensive to vend. And in this world today cheap is the word.

Btw, juices can have as much sugar as regular sodas.

Fruit juices are really not that optimum for weight losss.

Instead of a glass of orange juice for example, an orange would serve you best.

Hate on diet sodas all you want, but aside from plain water, it really is not a bad alternative.

I can drink and enjoy almost anything...sodas, beer, wine, milk, orange juice, apple juice, carrot juice, V8, milk shakes, aguas frescas, alcohol, soy milk, hot chocolate, atole, champurrado, tap water, spring water, mineral water, etc...

    I'm an eclectic drinker...

    Depends what kinda milk.

    Fat free, 1%, 2%...then that's fine.

Whole milk on the other hand is not exactly that dietary...it has twice the calories of the same serving of soda.

Adult humans don't have to rely on milk for calcium...a bunch of other things provide calcium.

But yes, milk is obviously the healthy choice. Sodas (aside from being sugary) obviously have zero nutritional value, however, diet sodas, especially non-diet sodas, are a decent option for people looking for something other than water.

Having said that...I also love milk...used to drink whole milk for years...but switched to 2% a few years back...I'm so used to it in fact...that when I do get the chance to drink whole milk...it tastes like butter to me...lol.

Check out my late night snack right now...2% milk and a banana...mmm, mmm, mmm...

I will certainly try it...sounds delicious...

Try Squirt (or any other grapefruit carbonated soda) with a good tequila (Cazadores, Herradura, etc...)...this mixed drink is called Paloma...serve on crushed ice...with a pinch of fresh lime (some sea salt on the brim of the glass is optional)...DELICIOUS...it's the number one mixed drink in Mexico (nope, it's not the Margarita)...

With that said, I used to drink Diet Coke all the time. It does have some sort of nasty aftertaste to me but figured for 0 calories...it was worth it. The I tried Coke Zero and it tasted like regular coke (to me) with no calories. Then I tried Coke cherry zero and it is crazy good. I have also tried most everything mentioned here but also love the diet version of Cherry Pepsi Zero and Diet Cherry Dr. Pepper
Plus Coke has a stronger fizz than Pepsi.

To me...Pepsi is like a Coke that has lost some of its carbonation.

But yeah...Coke Zero does rule...especially with cherry...as well as the Cherry Dr Pepper flavored soda...delicious...

Bottom Line...I prefer Coke to Pepsi. Our local grocery store puts one or the other on sale from week to week and to me....at least, that's the selling point. As far as carbonated mineral water; I personally prefer San Pelligrino to Perrier. I guess it is more of a personal taste as I'm not brand loyal but to me at least, Perrier has a funky after taste that I don't notice in San Pellgrino (as an aside; I have been drinking San Pelligrino before it was considered "fill in the blank" to drink San Pellegrino. I have never bought either with flavor added such as lemon or lime. I'm very cost conscious on this as well but unlike Pepsi or Coke; I wait for San Pellgrino to go on sale and stock up. I know it might sound strange to some but just my personal preference.
