A ? for the Thift shop prowlers

I think most of us here canvas the Thrift and Goodwill stores for stuff. Trying to find a toy to add to the collection or sell on ebay. Maybe you shop there for raw material for Mego customs. But I wanna know. What else do you find there that you "Gotta Buy".

For me its camera's and RC cars. I love old camera's. even if they use extinc film types. The older the better! The RC's I love to tinker with. I've often found ways to tie them into my Mego customizing. But if I find an RC vehicle along with its contoller. I gotta get it.

love vintage old man type button up shirts. Found one from Sears Men's store that was never worn, and looks like it stolen from Mike Brady.

Years ago I bought a trenchcoat because it looked just like Columbo's.

            Cost like $4.00

I used to wear it all the time until somebody told me I looked like a flasher

Signed & autographed books. My recent finds included Jimmy Buffet, Chuck Yeager, Ed McMahon, Madeline Albright, Bob Dole, Lawrence Welk, Judy Collins, and Brooks Robinson. Best finds ever for me were Colin Powell, Maria Von Trapp (Sound of Music), and Alan Shepherd.

I also like to find TV show board games. Just found a Pathfinder game from 1977 that has photos of David Jansenn from The Fugitive on the box. Cost me $2.99.

I have been hoping to find someone like you that likes old cameras. I have a box full of them and I do not know anything about them other than they are cameras.

Myself personally, I am always on the look out for Megoish scale goodies and of course Mego's. I have more luck with the Megoish style goodies than I ever do finding Mego's at thrifts stores around here. I think I have found a total of four in the past three or four years that I have been doing the thrift store boogey.

Other cool stuff that I look for when I bomb out in the Mego department is concert shirts and music cd's from the 80's.

I was going to ask if you had ever flashed anyone in it.

I was really fat at the time so the only thing anybody would see (if I flashed) was my belly

I've been an avid thrifter since the mid 80s. I LOVE them. Today 90 percent of what I buy are clothes. I'm a vintage clothing dealer, so I sell much of what I buy but I do keep many pieces for myself.

I also buy lots of records, stereo equipment, toys and general knick knacks. For me thrifts offer the ULTIMATE retail experience. Cool stuff hiding in the corners for great prices. I hate shopping malls and regular retail outlets like Target, Wal Mart, Best Buy etc etc. Long live the thrifts!

I am always on the lookout for odd old board games and articulated / jointed necklaces.
