I probably will yank the Christmas tree out tomorrow morning and get that decorated. I usually like to watch a dvd like Rudy or Invincible...for some reason I like watching one of those underdog type sports movies on Thanksgiving.

Then getting together with my brother/his family plus the rest of my family and the rest of his wife's family (we all live within an hour of one another) for Thanksgiving dinner. We usually finish the evening with some football watching or a competitive game of trivial pursuit.

I gotta work, but at $75 an hour (holiday pay), I am not complaining. I will get off tomorrow at 4:30, in time to get to mom's to eat.

Biggest mistake in frying turkey, too much oil. Fill a 1 gallon milk jug full of water, place in your pot. Fill pot with water until pot is little over 3/4 full. Remove milk jug. The level the in the pot after removing the jug is your fill mark for the oil.

I have seen houses burn to the ground from people trying to fry turkeys.

For the best turkey, inject it with tons of wet spices, beer, tenderizers, etc. (I heard Dr Pepper is good sub for the beer)

Also, it is kind of a waste of money to fry one $12 turkey with $30 in oil. Buy several turkeys, or ask the neighbors if they want to fry one.

Thanks. Yea I actually filled the pot with water and dropped the bird in, to check my level. I injected it with a bunch of honeY garlic and honeY bourbon marinade and am letting it go overnight.

Then about 3 mins a pound at 350 right? This guy is a 20 pounder.

Well, my brother, (who owns my house) has been visiting for almost 3 weeks. His wife will be joining us for Turkey Day. I got one of those cheater's meals from the grocery store, (which includes a half cooked turkey, mashed Taties, stuffing, gravy, cranberry sauce, rolls and pumpkin pie.) I'll make some more sides, and bought extra pie, cranberry sauce and stuffing. Top off w/ cider and egg nog, and we're good to go.

BTW, Damien, what IS a Cuban style turkey? Is it spicy, hun?
