Another reason to suspect Hollywood sanity

There is a movie coming out. A movie that years ago would've probabaly been dumped to late night cable. A movie that I could possibly enjoy in a naughty exploitation "Troma" level.

But when a movie with this plot can win awards at prestigious films festivals, something is wrong.

Because there is no way you can make a movie about a chick with a set of sharp teeth inside where the sun don't shine and have a good, worthwhile movie.

Mind you, you might have a movie that's a hoot and a guilty pleasure, but no amount of tacked on lame brained subtext and satire will make it anything but demented.

Anyway, the movie is called "Teeth"

Well, I don't want to judge before I've seen, but it does sound like the stuff of exploitation cinema.

I think it might not be a Hollywood effort, though. Looks like it's an indie of some sort. It comes out of Austin, TX.

Also, the IMDB says it's a comedy, which the trailer doesn't really reflect, although I can envision audiences laughing at this trailer in the theater.

If it was made in the 80's I'd say it's exploitation junk, but in this day and age I think it actually has a chance to be good.

If this was an exploitation movie it might've actually been good. Those movies don't offer big, elaborate and scientific explanations for whatever weird is going on, which makes it fun. Hollywood movies on the other hand wanna explain everything into detail, make it all believable however ridiculous, like teeth inside a woman. Because of that I think this movie is gonna suck. Shoulda been exploitation...
