    Gift Ideas?

So, my wife drew my sister's husband's name for the family gift exchange this year. My sister tells her he has all the movies, magazines, books, and clothes he wants, and to just buy him a gift card.

My wife, of course, thinks that's a lousy idea, and would like to hand him something real.

I tried to make some suggestions, but I don't know him that well either -- he pretty much keeps to himself, even at family gatherings. I do know he likes to retstore old cars (mustang, camaro, etc.) and he's into pinball machines--he had a couple set up in their house before they had kids.

I thought maybe a big coffee-table-type book on either of those, but I don't know what a good one would be. I know a few members around here are into the cars, and I thought some were into pinball machines.

    You guys have any suggestions?

    Thanks,

    --Pat

Get him something really cheap and junkie to open as a gift (a gag gift)...
and also put a gift card in there to cover your real gift expense amount.

I've done it many times and it never fails

I would go with the gift card also.

Why one from Amazon.com? That way he can pick out his own coffee table book?

There is nothing wrong with it. Personally, I love to receive gift cards so I can pick out what I would like rather than something someone who doesn't know me that well thinks I would like.
