    Your Favorite Cold War Movie?

I just watched "Salt" (pretty good), and it made me wonder is what my favorite Cold War movie.

I would have to say "Hunt for Red October".

I was going to put "Red Dawn" up there as well, but I don't think it is considered a Cold War movie, just a war movie.

    What is yours?

Dr. Strangelove, coming in close behind it are movies that cashed in on the commie paranoia like Invasion ofthe Body Snatchers.

            Easy...:

Dr Strangelove, and 'Missiles of October', a television play for CBS back in '74 with William Devane as JFK, but it has the most intense chemistry between the actors and situations. Martin Sheen played Bobby. Basically it's the same story as '13 Days', but done MUCH better. Nearly all of the characterzations were 'dead-on'.. Best televised play I've ever seen.

As a teenager, Red Dawn was a GREAT movie in the 80's. I know it is a terrible movie now.

                        "Dr. Strangelove"

"Fail-safe" is a good one too.

"WarGames" This one surprisingly holds up really well, and captures the era more than just feeling dated to me.

"The Day After" made for TV movie that basically broke my brain.

There's some great cold-war inspired sci-fi too: "The Day the Earth Stood Still", "Invasion of the Body Snatchers"

What about FireFox with clint Eastwood? The one where he jacks a bad A@$ fighter jet from either Russia or East Germany I can't remember which one but the bad guy was Admiral Piet from Empire Strikes Back.
