As I'm walking my dogs, a guy comes up to me, his hands in his jacket pockets.
He says: "Hey. I've just been released from prison."
My throat goes dry, but I just nod.
He continues: "You know what I really missed in jail?"
My mind races: "Whatever you do, don't bend over!"
He continues: "What I missed most of all, is petting a dog. Do you mind?"
I say: "Sure, they're friendly."
He gives my big dog a big hug, says "Thank you very much", and walks on.
I slowly relaxed, unclenched my buttocks, and walked on.
My dog was very happy to have met a new friend....
