I'd like to apologize in advance to my fellow Apple users

I went to my local AT&T...with the intention of getting an iPhone.

    Well...I didn't.

I opted for the htc Inspire 4G Smartphone instead...

It had better features, bigger screen, super thin, more free APPS, talking GPS (you have to purchase that feature for the iPhone)...and...drum roll...faster.

This thing rules...it gets 5 outta 5 here...

    Cool man!

I'm still living in the dark ages. I have a cell phone but it doesn't do anything and I don't have an actual plan or anything. I just pay 10 bucks a month.

My girlfriend has convinced me that come summer time, she and I would get new phones. I will be looking into this one you have for sure. I like the idea of the iphone but all my friends who have one say its a great device but sucks as an actual phone. It drops calls, hard to hear etc. Not having one myself, I don't know if that's the case or not.

You know why I got it?

To use it as a GPS device when I drive down to Sandy's studios...I don't wanna get lost...

Besides, I'm tired of printing directions all the time...I want the babe on the phone to guide me through with her soothing voice...

Ha! That's funny, my son just went and bought that phone as well. You are allowed to have a non Apple device or two and still be considered a MacBrat, Hec. I went out and bought a Motorola Xoom the day it was released and I gotta admit that I like many of the features better than my iPad. I am sure Apple will have most of those features on the next iPad version or two. But I am using a non-Apple device, so you can feel better, as no one is more of a MacBrat in my area than me.

I'm totally reporting you to the Apple police.

Truth be known I don't even own a cell phone personally - and anytime I use any of my friend's iphones, like, as an actual PHONE - I want to chuck it at the ground.

Lately on the few occasions I do go out with friends, I've been really struck by the trend that folks have for socializing via their phones rather than fully engaging with the people they are physically sitting across from. That has changed now that I have my ipad.

There I was last night at a bar watching the Oscars and tapping away at my ipad googling and IMDBing movie trivia (to win the contests, or just filling out queries that come out in conversation), alongside the six others at the table with smartphones who were reading out one liners tweeted in real time from others in their social network watching elsewhere, or grabbing clips from Inception to reinforce their arguments as to what was REALLY going on in the movie, or pulling Ricky Gervais quotes from the Golden Globes.

Of course my evening started by picking up a friend of mine, who was in the middle of a three way video conference with some old schoolmates of ours who now live in Ottawa and Vancouver. They actually saw me entering the apartment on their respective monitor/phone and imagine my shock being screeched at from two distant cities via the big speakers, pulling me into the virtual gab-fest.

The future is here. Why do you need a flying car or a teleporter when you can rope any given person into a conversation via video conference a continent away?

I am enamoured by what technology can do, but I am a little wary of being wired in 24-7 like that. It seems kind of exhausting for those not evolved for it. I'd rather be out front of the house spraying those tresspassing kids with the hose most days.

You know, I'm NOT liking the speakerphone on this thing...it's really weak...it defeats the purpose of having a speakerphone.

I'm going back to the AT&T store...and see what's up with that.

                        Stay tuned...

Ok...the spirit of Steve Jobs came to me in my dream...and slapped some sense into me...

Today...I returned the Android phone...and exchanged it for an iPhone...lol...

Things about the htc Inspire really bothered me...for one...its speakerphone SUCKS. It's really terrible...the iPhone's speakerphone on the other hand is crystal clear.

Also on the htc Inspire...the touch on screen sensitivity is really delicate...one little brush...and I was calling 911...and I actually got a couple of calls back from 911 telling me what was happening...holy ****...

The iPhone also smaller...although I did like the HUGE htc Inspire screen.

And although I figured out how to download stuff from the htc Inspire to my Mac...with the iPhone is much easier...less headaches.

                              So my final verdict?

Hate all you want about the iPhone...but I like it way better. The htc Inspire is nice...but did NOT like its extra screen sensitivity and inferior speakerphone.

                              P.S. I didn't get the iPhone4...mine is the iPhone3 GS...it was a lot cheaper...does everything I want...I also saved some good money.

Yes...I guess I was destined to stay with an Apple product...

                              Apple forever, baby...
