XBox 360, Defective still ?

Hey guys,

So, after a few yrs in the market. The Xbox 360 is still having problems. I know of 10 people out here that have one, & with all of them, thier Xbox 360 took a crap. If your Xbox lights up with the 3 red rings of death, you are then screwed, & have to call the customer service department of Xbox. If your system is still under warenty, They then will send you a box that you ship your game system to them, & they will fix it , then send it back to you in 10 days, fixed. This has happened to 10 of my friends, & now it happened to me. SO, I am waiting for my box so I can send it to them. I bought my system in July. You would think this would not happen any more, considering the console has been on the market for quite sometime now. I am pretty bummed, with next week being Thanks Giving, & me having extra time off,... there will be no Xbox 360 time. Everyone I know of, this has happened to.. This happen to anyone else out there ?

Yes, and it has happened to everyone I know also... it's a shame really, IMHO they have the best games, with the best online service, and graphics. The upside is, as with me and everyone I know, at least when they send it back it is fixed. I have had mine for over 2 years now, and that is the only problem ive had with it. Well I guess thats bad enough huh?

It's happened to alot of people I know too,Never to me though.I think it's just when you play it for like 6 straight hours everyday or something.I did however hear that they extended there warranties an extra year cause it's been happening so much

toys2cool is probably right. I played mine a WHOLE lot when I first got is. I try to rest it every so often now. Havent had the problem again, thank god.

I've heard this happening a lot. So far (knocking on wood) mine's been fine.

I never buy those extended warrenties from Best Buy or wherever, but in this case I did. At least now if I have an issue, I can take it to them for exchange right on the spot, for 2 years from purchase date. I felt kind of sucked in when buying the extended contract, but in this case I'm glad I did. It's amazing that they keep having these issues after so long.

No...the new ATI Chip's started being put in around last Febuary...so that it runs much cooler now. I have the 120GB Black Elite...which also has a newer better Graphics Card. And "Call of Duty 4" ROCKS!!!! I like the Multi-Player BETTER than Halo 3...I'm so addicted to that Game!!

I heard the same thing from my best friend. He is a huge Halo 3 fan, but loves modern warfare!! I havent picked it up yet, but I finished Halo3 in like 2 nights... on every setting... I was sort of disapointed in Halo3. I picked up Conan the other night, THAT is a fun game. No multiplayer though, but I'm a fan of the original books, and that is what this game is designed on.

For everything I hear about the 360's failure rate, I've never had a problem with the one I bought in April 2006, and I play mine a lot.

My 360 is going on 2 years old now and I have not had a bit of problems with it. At this rate it has all ready lived passed my first 2 PS1s and my first PS2.

I have three and I've never had a problem. It's unfortunate so many people have had problems but the real issue that was frustrating people was a QC problem at the repair centers which has been rectified.

There are no new graphics chips yet. The newest units have a smaller CPU and improved cooling. Keeping your unit ventilated is the best way to insure long life.

I would not hesitate at all to recommend the system to people who are concerned - particulary those buying a console this christmas, either the new Elites, the Arcade, or any of the systems with the great 2-game bundle.

If by chance someone does get a bad unit, there is a 3 year warrantee and all the repair costs (including shipping) is paid by Microsoft.

Man,.. I envy you all. I do not play much, however Am feaning my Conan & Guitar Hero 3 right now... & Rock Band comes out tommorrow ! "sigh" ... #@$*^ !

It's mostly going to be people with the older systems that are going to get the red rings. Again, keeping the unit ventilated is the key. do not get one of those intercoolers they actually block airflow.

Microsoft extended the warrantee to 3 years to make sure people are taken care of. As part of any continuous improvement the units are getting better and the newer ones are less likely to have a problem.

I'm all wound up for the Rock Band special edition set even though I should probably be good. I really, really don't need another guitar. Between the PS2 and the 360, I have six freakin' guitars. Bought two with GH 1, then GH2 for the PS2 came out with a red one that I had to have, then GH2 came out for the 360, so I bought two then, then I bought GH3, which came with a wireless guitar. I'm a chump that way.

I keep thinking maybe I should just buy the game and not the whole special edition set, but I really want the drums and they don't come out separately until February. That and the whole issue of the set supposedly being in short supply makes me think I need to jump on it or else I'll have to wait four months for the separate drum peripheral... of course, that's what the marketing guys want you to think, too.

And don't get me started on the glut of good games out now. Mass Effect is being overshadowed by Rock Band, but it's supposedly pretty sweet, too. Can't get enough Keith David. GH3 just came out a few weeks ago, as did Orange Box and Halo 3.

Albert, could you tell everyone to please just lay off for like six or nine months!?

Edited to add: Just got back from Wal-mart's midnight sale and got the last one. Yeehaw.
