HELP please from the pros - going MEGO shopping today!!
I'm BACK! I'm going through things and tossing things out....give me a bit.....it wasnt the 'miracle score' that we all hope for, in fact it was more like Bryan already stopped by and I got what Larry left,, but HEY - I got some COOL stuff and am VERY pleased just the same! It was and still is such an awesome THRILL to even be ABLE to sniff through crates of mysterious treats! I'm sure that for many folks here this is an everyday thing and no big deal, but this is a BIG deal for me....at yard sales and GoodWills lately I get mostly Ninja Turtles and 90s X-Men....
OK! Had a chance to go through the box, I bought it ALL.
First off, let me say that this WASNT the 'find of the era' that I had hoped for, but I'm still VERY pleased! If anyone would care to see pictures, I can try and locate some AA batteries, though much of whats here is pretty common and not really "WOW- look at THAT piece!" material. I did notice right away that the (about 3' by 3' by 2') box had stuff from several eras in it...among 'other' things...was quite the junk box, heh.
Here are some/most of the treats:
-Batman in a tattered suit!
-Robin in the same way!
-Cornelius in a decent suit! (I had to LAUGH to myself when I saw him...I have a few already...)
-A.J. bearded wearing a decent Green Arrow suit!
-Strange rubber bendy monster woman/harpy with EXPOSED breasts!
-Handful or three of Star Wars figures!
-Golden Girl and She-Ra dolls for my wife!
-Several cool 80s figures!
-Odd vinyl barbarian/Mad Max guy - he's about 10"+ tall. Jointed at hips, arms, and neck. Has engourged feet and hands like a Rescue Hero, but looks nasty like a Mad Max villian...I think he's newer - ?
-A silver flask (Of ALL things, right?)
-Klingon in a VERY nice suit, with his boots and belt and all!
-(What I believe to be..) C.H.I.P.S. helmets and clothings!
-Random suits from A.J. to Waltons!
-Superman Type 1 with a hideous suit!
-Tiny die-cast park bench with tiny porcelain beagle puppies!
-Few dinosaurs!
-Random Empire Strikes Back cards!
-Single Ironman glove!
-Green Arrow backpack with the straps broken!
-Western weapons and various A.J. gear!
-Other stuff!
....And on the way out the door, "Holy Special Edition Batman!", the Batman Movie DVD on the house!
The box was like a rushed MESS..though kind of like a very warm-feeling time capsule...there were scattered crayons, plastic monies, comic book pages crinkled-up, green army men, and Bicycle playing cards.
Like I said, not a GOLDmine by ANY stretch, but MAN it felt good to grab and feel those Type 1s and dig through this box...nothing like it in the world...and I'm SO HAPPY with what I was able to get!
Now I know a gentleman never kisses and tells, but let me reveal to you what I paid for the lot... A total of $50 dollars even. I explained to him (honestly) that because of the condition of the Megos that they wouldnt be valued at near as much. He was a GREAT guy to deal with, and even kept throwing in free things as we were leaving his backroom/office...I would LOVE to give PROPS to this man, but in doing that, I might be "slicing my own throat" as they say, as far as local board members are concerned.
What a rush...and the beer isnt hurting the high either...
EDIT - Rche, you arent too far off - and no LAUGHING - I'm VERY pleased with my haul thank you!
