^ Sorry to hear.I enjoy the dark and gray, especially at night with a partner, but yes, a bit too long and it might end up as 'The Shining'.
In Upstate NY, around the Paul Smith's area - Lake Placid - where they held the 1980 Winter Olympics, (I met and dated my ex-wife here....) the old timers call it the 'Seven Years Winter'....and it FEELS like it brother...7+ months of HEAVY snow and many days without sun....
My people typically thrive in this though...I have a picture of my older brother, circa 1970s. He is standing in the woods in Minerva, close to Schroon Lake, and he is up to his waste in snow. His beard and hair are covered in snow and ice, like a frost giant, and he is holding three beavers out in one hand, and a rifle in the other.
Long, cold, and dark seasons for sure...this is why the BEST ghost stories come from the New England area....Comment

Here's something even weirder. About 6 or 7 years ago it was 80 degrees at the beginning of March and we still had some snow on the ground. I was at Blue Mountain, snowboarding in shorts and a T-shirt.Comment

We have had a few days in the high 50's and it has melted down the snow like crazy! I am shocked that there hasn't been any flooding yet.
And I still remember when we were out at the farm in PA for our yearly vacation. I believe it was April of 2005 and the Susquehanna flooded very badly. We are almost at the top of a mountain and one direction is highway 11 which was flooded, the other direction had a bridge that was washed out. We were stuck there for 3 days before the water receded enough to go anywhere.
The only good part of being stranded was that we had stopped off in Pittsburgh and picked up a Kawasaki I bought from a friend so I had a lot of time to drive it around the area which was fun. I took a ton of pictures to show my friends when we got back home because I wasn't sure if they would believe me when I told them how bad it was. Of course it was so bad that it hit the national news and everyone knew what had happened. Just our luck that it happened during our vacation.
There were still a few bridges and roads that hadn't been repaired when we went back the following year. That was when we started going there in August instead of April.

It actually hit 70 here later in the day. I was ready to get the Harley out for the weekend until I checked the weather. Not only is it dropping quick, but 50 mph winds. Guess I gotta wait a while for some riding weather.Comment
