I never thought I'd ever see the day that a tornado would hit any place where I lived. I live in Kimball Tennessee and last night, a tornado touched down and totally destroyed the Baptist Church as well as the City Hall Building and the Ambulance Garage. And other than a few homes, that was it. Cars flew through the air and trees and power lines were down.
I myself have never experienced a tornado first hand and luckily, I managed to avoid this one. By luck, I was in Chattanooga at the time the tornado struck. I had to stay at my mom's house for the night and return this morning. My biggest fear was that I would have no home to return to.
The bad news was, the church was completely destroyed. The good news is something you rarely hear in tornado stories. No fatalities and no serious injuries. Only minor injuries were reported. Also, much to my surprise, my home is still there, my cat is still okay and the power is back on at my place. The part of town where my home is located was never even touched, even though it's one or two blocks away from the devastation.
My emotions are mixed. I am grateful beyond words that things were not as bad as they could have been, though this was bad enough. But the fact that a tornado has actually hit close to where I live gives me cold chills.
Anyway, just thought I'd share. I know this story has made news.
Cheers.
