Betamax video players (finding rare clips)

Last year I won a old Betamax video player with 60 betamax tapes all for 15 pounds , now every time I see old betamax blank tapes on e bay I buy them cheep , you have no idea what Iv found films old TV specials music concerts interviews 100s of old adverts from the late 70s early 80s its a risqué buying the tapes but when I do find gems It makes up for it Iv found 100s of stuff I love all lost or forgotten from the late 70s 80s its a blast

Now I get my most wanted or favourite clips transferred on to DVD buy a guy I know from England is there a cheaper way? like copy them on to VHS then copy that myself onto disc? would that work? iv found that much stuff I really wanna save them any ideas ?

No need to copy Beta to VHS then disc. The easiest way is to buy a cheap DVD recorder and hook the Betamax up to that. You can use a computer with a DVD burner instead, but that's a bit more of a PITA.

If your Betamax has RCA outputs for both audio AND video, you could use a device like this

to record directly to your PC then burn it to DVD.

If it doesn't have an RCA video output, you will also need an RF modulator to adapt the outputs from the VCR to the video capture device (not sure what that will do to the quality...more connections tend to attenuate the signal, but sometimes it is not a noticeable degradation).
